Fluorescent carbon quantum dots (CQDs), which showed excitation-dependent emission characteristics, were prepared using a facile hydrothermal method. The structure and optical properties of CQDs were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and fluorescence spectroscopy. These CQDs also showed peroxidase-like activity and could catalyze the HO-mediated oxidation of o-phenylenediamine (OPD) to form 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP) with an absorption peak at 420 nm. DAP exhibited an obvious fluorescence emission at 550 nm under the excitation of 360 nm. On the other hand, it decreased the fluorescence of CQDs at 450 nm via inner filter effect. The experimental results indicated that the HO concentration affected the color of DAP and the fluorescence intensity of CQDs and DAP. Thus, a colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescence dual-signal method was established for measuring the concentrations of HO and uric acid (UA). The effects of pH, incubation temperature, incubation time, and OPD concentration on the response were investigated. Under the conditions of pH 7.5, temperature 50 °C, incubation time 30 min, and OPD 1.5 mM, the absorbance and fluorescence intensity ratio responses were linearly dependent on UA concentration ranging from 5.0 μM to 100 μM. The limits of detection were 0.7 and 0.5 μM with a colorimetric method and ratiometric fluorescence method, respectively. More importantly, this dual responsive method has been applied to the determination of UA in urine samples with satisfactory results.

This study was aim to investigate the effects of lipoic acid (ALA) on performance, meat quality, serum biochemistry and antioxidant function of broilers under heat stress (HS). Two hundred1-day-old Cobb broilers were randomly divided into four treatment groups and each treatment consisted of 4 replicates of 10 broilers each. The treatment group adopts a 2 × 2 two-factor setting, which is divided into two diets (basic diet or 250 mg/kg ALA diet) and two temperatures (24 ± 1℃ or 33 ± 1℃).

This meta-analysis investigates the potential of allopurinol to prevent contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN), a common and serious complication of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). CIN is particularly prevalent among high-risk populations, including patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) or acute coronary syndrome (ACS), where the administration of contrast agents can exacerbate renal injury. Allopurinol, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor, is known for its dual action in reducing oxidative stress and uric acid production, positioning it as a promising therapeutic candidate to mitigate CIN.

Chemical polymerization/oligomerization opens numerous opportunities, from fundamental materials research to practical applications in catalysis, energy, sensing, and medicine. The electrochemical detection of vitamins B (folic acid) and C (ascorbic acid) requires new approaches because of low selectivity, electrode fouling, and interference from other chemicals. As an excellent material for long-term vitamin detection, oligo 3,5-diamino-1,2,4-triazole (oligo DAT) enhances the sensitivity, selectivity, and stability of sensors by creating a stable, conductive layer that facilitates electron transfer and reduces interference from common substances like glucose or uric acid.

Background/objective: Considering the uncertain relationship between high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and uric acid (UA) with diabetic retinopathy (DR),this study investigates the link between Uric Acid to High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (UHR) and DR in T2DM patients, evaluating its potential for DR diagnosis and early prediction.
Study Design And Data Collection: This retrospective study analyzed 1450 type 2 diabetes patients, divided into NDR and DR groups by retinal exams. We gathered demographic and clinical data, calculated UHR, and explored its correlation with DR development.

BACKGROUND Coronary artery ectasia (CAE) is frequently present with coronary artery disease (CAD). However, it is not clear why some patients with CAD progress to CAE while others do not. The pathogenesis of CAE is still poorly elucidated.
