Recently, two-dimensional (2-D) materials with a Penta-atomic-configuration such as Penta-graphene have received considerable attention because of their potential applications in electronics, spintronics and ion batteries. Previously, Penta-graphene has been proposed as an excellent anode material for Li-/Na-ion batteries with a high theoretical capacity (1489 mA h g-1). Here, based on the first-principles calculations, we report that a new 2-D material namely Penta-B2C can become another excellent anode material with even higher theoretical capacity for Li-/Na-ion batteries than Penta-graphene. Our results demonstrate that Li/Na atoms can be stably adsorbed on Penta-B2C. Meanwhile, Penta-B2C shows metallic conductivity during the adsorption. Most strikingly, the theoretical capacities of Penta-B2C are as high as 1594 for Li and 2391 mA h g-1 for Na, which are superior to those of the most known 2-D anode materials. Especially, the Na theoretical capacity of Penta-B2C sets a new record among known 2-D anode materials. In addition, Penta-B2C possesses relatively low open-circuit voltage and a low diffusion barrier for ions, which are vital for anode materials. These results highly promise that Penta-B2C can be an excellent anode material with a fast charge/discharge rate and extremely high theoretical capacity for Li-/Na-ion batteries.

The aqueous zinc metal battery holds great potential for large-scale energy storage due to its safety, low cost, and high theoretical capacity. However, challenges such as corrosion and dendritic growth necessitate controlled zinc deposition. This study employs epitaxy to achieve large-area, dense, and ultraflat zinc plating on textured copper foil.

The adsorption of phosphate in the collected water is crucial to alleviate the crisis of phosphorus resources, which is in line with the concept of green and sustainable development of resources. In this study, based on the calcium modification technology of pyrolysis combined with chemical modification, a new type of calcium modified coal gangue (CaMCG) was prepared by using coal gangue as raw material and calcium chloride as modifier for the removal of phosphate. The optimum preparation conditions of CaMCG were obtained by response surface test: m:m=1, calcination temperature 735℃, calcination time 135 min.

Background: Proso millet bran protein (PMBP), derived from agricultural by-products, possesses high nutritional value, despite its challenging extraction process. The present study proposes an extraction method for PMBP using ultrasound-assisted cellulase technology (UAE), and optimizes the process parameters. Non-waxy (N-PMBP) and waxy (W-PMBP) PMBPs, extracted through alkaline solubilization and acid precipitation (conventional treatment, CT), served as control groups to assess the impact of UAE on the structure and functionality of PMBP, as well as the distinctions between N-PMBPs and W-PMBPs.

We show that the communication cost of quantum broadcast channel simulation under free entanglement assistance between the sender and the receivers is asymptotically characterized by an efficiently computable single-letter formula in terms of the channel's multipartite mutual information. Our core contribution is a new one-shot achievability result for multipartite quantum state splitting via multipartite convex splitting. As part of this, we face a general instance of the quantum joint typicality problem with arbitrarily overlapping marginals.
