We describe a study of the magneto-optical properties of Ag-doped CdSe colloidal nanoplatelets (NPLs) that were grown using a novel doping technique. In this work, we used magnetic circularly polarized luminescence and magnetic circular dichroism spectroscopy to study light-induced magnetism for the first time in 2D solution-processed structures doped with nominally nonmagnetic Ag impurities. The excitonic circular polarization () and the exciton Zeeman splitting () were recorded as a function of the magnetic field () and temperature (). Both and have a Brillouin-function-like dependence on and , verifying the presence of paramagnetism in Ag-doped CdSe NPLs. The observed light-induced magnetism is attributed to the transformation of nonmagnetic Ag ions into Ag, which have a nonzero magnetic moment. This work points to the possibility of incorporating these nanoplatelets into spintronic devices, in which light can be used to control the spin injection.
Solution-processed colloidal cadmium chalcogenide nanoplatelets (NPLs)-based photodetectors (PD) are promising materials for next-generation optoelectronic devices due to their excellent optical properties. Here, we report on ultrafast carrier relaxation dynamics of four monolayer (4 ML) Ag-doped CdSe (Ag: CdSe) NPLs using ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy and their photodetectors applications. A broad dopant emission is observed at around 650 nm with a large FWHM of ~431 meV and band edge emission at 515 nm.

Cadmium selenide (CdSe) nanocrystals are important photoelectric materials. Doping heterovalent impurities such as silver (Ag) in CdSe nanocrystal quantum dots (QDs) can provide additional charge carriers, which can significantly enhance the performance of CdSe QDs for their potential applications in high-efficiency photovoltaic devices. Using density functional theory (DFT) based calculations with the Heyd-Scuseria-Ernzerhof (HSE06) screened hybrid functional, we demonstrate that Ag doping can affect the structural, electronic and optical properties of CdSe QDs significantly.
A supra-quantum dot (SQD) is a three-dimensionally assembled QD structure composed of several hundreds to thousands of QDs connected through oriented attachments. Owing to their three-dimensional interconnected structures and relatively large volumes, impurity atoms are thermodynamically more stable in SQDs than in conventional QDs. Herein, we report the facile in-situ synthesis of colloidal Ag-doped CdSe SQDs.

Among colloidal nanocrystals, 2D nanoplatelets (NPLs) made of II-VI compounds appear as a special class of emitters with an especially narrow photoluminescence signal. However, the PL signal in the case of NPLs is only tunable by a discrete step. Here, we demonstrate that doping is a viable path to finely tune the color of these NPLs from green to red, making them extremely interesting as phosphors for wide-gamut display.
