Charge recombination kinetics of bacterial photosynthetic protein Reaction Center displays an exquisite sensitivity to the actual occupancy of ubiquinone-10 in its Q-binding site. Here, we have exploited such phenomenon for assessing the growth and the aggregation/fusion of phosphocholine vesicles embedding RC in their membrane, when treated with sodium oleate.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) photogenerated by two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials provide a means of delivering persistent antibacterial activity in fluid media. Semiconducting molybdenum disulfide (MoS) nanosheets are an attractive option for exploiting such activity by using visible light. However, the tendency of MoS nanosheets in suspension to restack or otherwise aggregate remains a critical obstacle, as it results in the loss of the desired photoactivity.

The upgrade of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, France to an Extremely Brilliant Source (EBS) is expected to enable time-resolved synchrotron serial crystallography (SSX) experiments with sub-millisecond time resolution. ID29 is a new beamline dedicated to SSX experiments at ESRF-EBS. Here, we report experiments emerging from the initial phase of user operation at ID29.

Here, using an innovative phage-templated synthesis, a strategy able to bypass the current limitations of TNPs in nanomedicine applications is proposed. The phage capsid is decorated with oligothiophene derivatives, transforming the virus in a 1D-thiophene nanoparticle (1D-TNP).
