A novel and recoverable platform of polyurethane (PU) sponge-supported Au nanoparticle catalyst was obtained by a water-based in-situ preparation process. The structure, chemical, and morphology properties of this platform were characterized by XRD, TGA, SEM, FT-IR, and XPS. The Au/PU sponge platform exhibited excellent catalytic performances in catalytic reductions of -nitrophenol and -nitroaniline at room temperature, and both catalytic reactions could be completed within 4.5 and 1.5 min, respectively. Furthermore, the strong interaction between Au nanoparticles and the PU sponge enabled the catalyst system to maintain a high catalytic efficiency after 5 recycling times, since the PU sponge reduced the trend of leaching and aggregation of Au nanoparticles. The unique nature of Au nanoparticles and the porous PU sponge along with their strong interaction resulted in a highly efficient, recoverable, and cost-effective multifunctional catalyst. The AuNP/Sponge nanocatalyst platform has great potential for wide environmental and other catalytic applications.

Herin, the successful synthesis of a bis Schiff base (L) has been achieved using 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and 1,3-diaminoguanidine as raw materials, which was further characterized by infrared spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance hydrogen spectrum. Moreover, spectroscopic experiments demonstrated that the probe L showed good selectivity and visual detectability for Al. Its detection limit (DL) is 2.

Manganese dioxide nanosheets (MnO NSs) have garnered significant attention in analytical sensing, while the majority of the previous reports suffer from a complex preparation process involving reducing agents, template or high-temperature. In this work, a novel MnO NSs decorated TiCT MXene nanoribbons (TiCTNR@MnO) composite was firstly assemblied via a facile one-step strategy and applied as a bi-signal generator to enable colorimetric and fluorescence (FL) dual-response sensing. During the assembly process, TiCTNR innovatively acted as both reductant and carrier to prevent the aggregation of MnO NSs.

Integrative studies of diverse neuronal networks that govern social behavior are hindered by a lack of methods to record neural activity comprehensively across the entire brain. The recent development of the miniature fish Danionella cerebrum as a model organism offers one potential solution, as the small size and optical transparency of these animals make it possible to visualize circuit activity throughout the nervous system. Here, we establish the feasibility of using Danionella as a model for social behavior and socially reinforced learning by showing that adult fish exhibit strong affiliative tendencies and that social interactions can serve as the reinforcer in an appetitive conditioning paradigm.

This systematic review aimed to evaluate the independent and joint effects of social exclusion in three specific domains-economic, social relations, and civic participation-on the cognitive health of middle-aged and older adults. Longitudinal studies from January 2000 to October 2023 were identified via Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed, with sixty-five studies meeting inclusion criteria. The quality of the studies was assessed with Newcastle-Otawa Scale.
