In this investigation we report the formation of thin ZnO recombination barrier layer at TiO₂/CdS interface aimed for the improvement in performance of CdS sensitized solar cell. The film was deposited upon nanocrystalline mesoporous TiO₂ surface by following a simple chemical process and characterized, using UV-Visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and electron dispersive X-ray measurements. The insertion of ZnO thin layer enhances the QDSC (Quantum dot sensitized solar cell) performance, contributed mainly by an increase in open circuit voltage () due to reduced electron back transfer from TiO₂ conduction band. Moreover, the analysis of photovoltaic characteristics upon increasing the thickness of the ZnO film reveals that the ZnO recombination barrier layer with optimum thickness at porous TiO₂/CdS interface proved to be an effective potential barrier for minimizing electron back recombination.

Molybdenum telluride (MoTe) shows great promise as a solar absorber material for photovoltaic (PV) cells owing to its wide absorption range, adjustable bandgap, and lack of dangling bonds at the surface. In this research, a basic device structure comprising Pt/MoTe/ZnO/ITO/Al was developed, and its potential was assessed using the SCAPS-1D software. The preliminary device exhibited a photovoltaic efficiency of 23.

This work looks into how well Cu-doped zinc oxide works as a photocatalyst when exposed to visible light to break down sulphanilamide. The synthesized samples were characterized by XRD and then FTIR techniques for structural besides compositional analysis. The approximate value of bandgap found out by NBE values of PL spectra showed a decrease in bandgap with doping.

In this work, atmospheric pulsed laser deposition was used to prepare photosensitive elements. This technology is a practical and relatively inexpensive way of obtaining highly porous nanostructures composed of nanoparticles or nanoaggregates characterized by a large surface-to-volume ratio. Samples were produced via laser nanosecond or picosecond laser ablation of pure ZnO or mixed ZnO-TiO targets on quartz substrates with pre-deposited gold electrodes.

The main focus of this research is to explore the properties and photovoltaic application of AgCdF, and hence, initially, the CASTEP software was used in this study to assess the structural, optical, mechanical, and electrical characteristics of the AgCdF perovskite absorber layer within the context of the density functional theory (DFT) method. AgCdF resulting from the structural research is confirmed to be chemically and thermodynamically stable by the estimated tolerance factor and formation enthalpy. According to the band structure analysis, AgCdF is an indirect band gap semiconductor with a band gap of 1.

We have refined the photoluminescence (PL) emission characteristics of ZnO QDs through a single-step, reagent-free femtosecond pulsed laser ablation in liquid (fs-PLAL) technique. The ratio of the near band edge (NBE) to deep-level emission (DLE), which determines the shape of the QDs' optical emission spectrum, is precisely controlled by the ablation laser pulse parameters-namely, pulse energy and temporal duration.
