Correlative microscopy experiments require the co-registration of the image data acquired by different micro-analytical techniques. Major challenges are the potentially very different fields-of-view and resolutions as well as the multi-modality of the data. To provide microscopists with an easy-to-use software for two-dimensional image co-registration we have developed Correlia, an open source software based on ImageJ/Fiji, which is fully tailored for the registration of multi-modal microscopy data. It can handle data-sets of in principle arbitrary extent and uses classical approaches, i.e., rigid registration tools or B-spline based deformation models for the correction of both, global and local misalignments, such that a fast registration output is provided. Here we describe some of the basics of Correlia focusing on its application: firstly, registration workflows are outlined on artificial data. In the second part these recipes are applied to register correlative data acquired on an algal biofilm and a soil sample.

Knowledge of localized strain at the micrometer scale is essential for tailoring the electrical and mechanical properties of ongoing thinning of crystal silicon (c-Si) solar cells. Thinning c-Si wafers below 110 m are susceptible to cracking in manufacturing due to the nonuniform stress distribution at a micrometer region, necessitating a rigorous technique to reveal the localized stress distribution correlating with its device electrical output. In this context, a Raman microscopy integrated with a photovoltage mapping setup with high resolution to the submicrometer scale is developed to acquire correlative Raman-voltage of the localized physical properties at the microcracks on the rear side of c-Si solar cells.

Assessing the contamination of paper and board (P&B) food packaging materials poses significant challenges due to the sensitivity limits of analytical methods and the low precision of sampling processes. This study aims to enhance the understanding of P&B food packaging contamination by investigating the distribution of contaminants at different scales using a combination of chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. A total of 36 substances were targeted, including phthalates, photoinitiators, and bisphenol A.

Objective: Using rabbit models, this study simulated the laryngopharynx's response to the synergistic effects of various acidic reflux environments and pepsin to investigate the response mechanism underlying weak acid reflux and pepsin in the mucosal barrier injury of laryngopharyngeal reflux.
Methods: The rabbits were divided into six groups, and the original larynx was recorded for each group. During the study period, rabbits were sprayed with different doses of acid and pepsin solutions and monitored for hypopharyngeal mucosal transient impedance before and after modeling.

Materials exhibiting topological transport properties, such as a large topological Hall resistivity, are crucial for next-generation spintronic devices. Here, we report large topological Hall resistivities in epitaxial supermalloy (NiFeMo) thin films with [100] and [111] orientations grown on single-crystal MgO (100) and AlO (0001) substrates, respectively. While X-ray reciprocal maps confirmed the epitaxial growth of the films, X-ray stress analyses revealed large residual strains in the films, inducing tetragonal distortions of the cubic NiFeMo unit cells.

Reproductive technologies, including sperm cryopreservation, offer conservationists enhanced capacity to genetically manage populations and improve the outcomes of conservation breeding programs (CBPs). Despite this potential, the post-thaw quality of amphibian sperm is highly variable following cryopreservation, and research focused on protocol refinement is needed. The aim of this study was twofold: (1) to investigate the effect of the addition of bovine serum albumin (BSA) to the cryopreservation medium (pre-freeze), and (2) the effect of the addition of caffeine to the activation medium (post-thaw), on post-thaw sperm characteristics in the critically endangered Booroolong frog ().
