Background: Osteoarthritis is highly prevalent and a common locomotory disorder in the elderly. The treatments aim improves the quality of life. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of topical ozonated oil in relieving pain in patients with osteoarthritis.

Design: A placebo-controlled, triple-blind, randomised controlled trial including osteoarthritis patients older than 50 years.

Interventions: Eighty patients were randomly divided into two groups: treatment (ozonated oil) and placebo (non-ozonated oil). The oils were used twice a day for 60 days. Evaluations were performed using WOMAC (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities) and VAS (visual analogue scale) and laboratory analysis.

Results: Pain relief was observed in all groups except in the placebo group where patients are diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis (degree 4) (p-value treatment and placebo group: 0.021 and 0.345, respectively).

Conclusions: For the first time, the pain relief in patients with severe osteoarthritis was demonstrated by the use of topical ozonated oil.

This study aimed to identify whether there is an ideal concentration for applying ozonized oil (OZ) in the post-exodontic alveoli of senescent rats treated with zoledronate (ZOL). Thirty-five female rats, aged 18 months, were divided into five groups: ZOL; ZOL+OZ500; ZOL+OZ600; ZOL+OZ700; and SAL. The groups treated with ZOL, and other concentrations of OZ received applications at a dose of 100 μg/kg, while the SAL group received saline.

The effect of ozone treatment on the sensory quality, aroma compounds, phytosterols, and phytosterol oxidation products (POP) in stored plant oils was studied. Cold-pressed flaxseed, cold-pressed rapeseed, and refined rapeseed oils were treated with ozone, air, and nitrogen, then subjected to accelerated storage at 60 °C for 6 days. The sensory evaluation revealed that ozone significantly influenced the sensory profile, with notable cucumber and green-grassy aromas.

Assessment of atmospheric volatile organic compounds at two crude oil production plants in Southeastern Türkiye.

Environ Monit Assess

December 2024

Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Gazi University, Ankara, 06500, Türkiye.

Ambient Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) were investigated to determine their characteristics, Ozone Formation Potentials (OFPs), and health risks in two crude oil production plants (Nusaybin and Egil plants) in southeastern Türkiye. Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, m + p xylene, o xylene, and 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene were measured at eight passive sampling points in each plant. Samples were analyzed using gas chromatography coupled with a flame ionization detector and a thermal desorption.

Purpose: the aim of the present study is to analyse the composition of the currently available topical antiseptic products and the related scientific evidence, and to discuss the implications of their use in the prevention of endophthtalmitis.

Methods: products available on the market until February 2024 were considered. Information provided on the illustration leaflet of each product were analysed.

The influence of molecular structure (acrylonitrile content) and formulation (carbon black and plasticizer dosage) on the rheological and mechanical properties of HNBR composites was systematically studied, with further discussion on ozone resistance and swelling behavior in transformer oil. The results demonstrated that the curing characteristics and rheological behavior of HNBR composites are closely linked to acrylonitrile content, carbon black, and plasticizer levels. Plasticizers significantly reduced the degree of crosslinking and the Payne effect, while fillers had the opposite impact.
