Objective: This study aims to establish the concept of invalid extraction rates in follicular unit extraction and evaluate its clinical value.

Methods: The present study involved 30 patients with alopecia. Three young surgeons (nominated A, B, and C) each performed follicular unit extraction on a randomly selected portion of the donor site of each patient for ten minutes. The outcomes were separately recorded and calculated, and converted to an invalid extraction rate for each surgeon using the formula, "invalid extraction rate = 1 - successfully extracted follicular units/actually extracted units × 100%."

Results: The follicular unit invalid extraction efficiency of each surgeon gradually declined. The average efficiency level of surgeon B was evaluated as excellent, while the levels of surgeons A and C were evaluated as good.

Conclusion: With experience, surgeons can speed up the process of follicular unit extraction and gradually increase performance quality through both extraction speed and success rate.

Dissecting cellulitis (DC) of the scalp is a chronic inflammatory condition marked by neutrophilic cicatricial alopecia, often linked to staphylococcal antigens. This case report details a 34-year-old male with scarring acne who developed DC following follicular unit extraction (FUE) approximately four months prior. Trichoscopic examination revealed brown pigmented dots, erythema, and melicerous crusts.

Aims: The diagnosis of lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma (LPL) in the bone marrow (BM) is challenged by aberrant phenotypes and by overlapping histological features with marginal zone lymphoma (MZL). To address these issues, we (i) assessed LPL immunophenotype on a large series of BM samples, (ii) drew possible correlations between LPL phenotype and clinical/molecular data and (iii) investigated the role of new phenotypical markers in the differential diagnosis between LPL and MZL.

Materials And Methods: The study retrospectively considered 81 clinically annotated LPL diagnosed at Padua University Hospital (Padua, Italy) during a 5-year period.

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition characterized by the presence of endometrium-like tissue outside the uterus, primarily affecting pelvic organs and tissues. In this study, we explored platelet activation in endometriosis. We utilized the STRING database to analyze the functional interactions among proteins previously identified in small extracellular vesicles (EVs) isolated from the peritoneal fluid of endometriosis patients and controls.
