Background: The goal of this study was to examine the effects of spinal cord stimulation (SCS) on muscle activity during walking after lower-limb amputation. Amputation results in a loss of sensory feedback and alterations in gait biomechanics, including co-contractions of antagonist muscles about the knee and ankle, and reduced pelvic obliquity range-of-motion and pelvic drop. SCS can restore sensation in the missing limb, but its effects on muscle activation and gait biomechanics have not been studied in people with lower-limb amputation.

Over 90% of protein degradation in eukaryotic cells occurs through the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS). In this system, the ubiquitin protein can bind to a substrate on its own or it can form a chain with multiple ubiquitin molecules in a process called polyubiquitination. There are 8 different sites on ubiquitin at which polyubiquitin chains can be formed, the second most abundant of which, lysine-63 (K63), is independent of the degradation process, though this mark has rarely been studied in the brain or during learning-dependent synaptic plasticity.

The goal of this project was to demonstrate that subpopulations of cells in tumors can uniquely fluctuate in size in response to environmental conditions created during drug treatment, thereby acting as a dynamic "rheostat" to create a favorable tumor environment for growth. The cancer modeling used for these studies was subpopulations of melanoma cells existing in cultured and tumor systems that differed in aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) activity. However, similar observations were found in other cancer types in addition to melanoma, making them applicable broadly across cancer.

Introduction: Fluid overload is a source of substantial morbidity for adults and children with nephrotic syndrome (NS). Preparation and Rationale for a Fluid Overload in Nephrotic Syndrome Clinical Outcomes Assessment Set for Drug Development (Prepare-NS, 5UG3FD007308) was funded by the US Food and Drug Administration to develop a core set of patient-reported and observer-reported (for young children) outcome measures of fluid overload for use in pharmaceutical trials across the lifespan.
Methods: The Prepare-NS study team developed the proposed context of use with input from stakeholders.

The energy crisis reshaped energy politics, resulted in energy price surges, increased energy capacity, and large-scale energy-saving campaigns. While an energy demand reduction was observed in Europe, little is known about how the crisis impacted citizens' climate-relevant judgment and decisions. Here we report a preregistered two-wave cross-national study ( = 1040) spanning the winter of 2022/2023 to investigate how support for renewable energy policies, energy literacy, and energy-efficient product choices developed as this crisis unfolded.
