The reactivity of the P butterfly complexes [{Cp'''Fe(CO)}(μ,η-P)] (A, Cp''' = CHBu) and [{Cp*Cr(CO)}(μ,η-P)] (B, Cp* = C(CH)) towards the N-heterocyclic carbene IMe (1,3,4,5-tetramethyl-imidazol-2-ylidene) is reported. The reaction of A affords [P(IMe)][Fe(CO)Cp'''] (1) or [P(IMe)][{Cp'''Fe}(μ,η-P)] (2), the latter possessing a P-allylic moiety. In contrast, the reaction of B yields [P(IMe)][Cr(CO)Cp*] (3) and [{Cp*Cr(CO)}(η-PIMe)][Cr(CO)Cp*] (4), featuring a novel metal-bridged P dumbbell.

Human iodotyrosine deiodinase (hIYD) catalyzes the reductive deiodination of iodotyrosine using a flavin mononucleotide cofactor to maintain the iodine concentration in the body. Mutations in the hIYD gene are linked to human hypothyroidism, emphasizing its role in thyroid function regulation. The present work employs microsecond-scale molecular dynamics simulations and quantum chemical calculations to elucidate the conformational dynamics and reactivity in the active site at various stages of hIYD enzymatic cycle.

λ-cyhalothrin, a synthetic type II pyrethroid, has become increasingly popular for control of aphids, butterfly larvae, and beetles, replacing other agricultural chemicals. As a result of which, residues of this synthetic pesticide are being reported across the globe in natural water, which poses a serious threat to aquatic life. Therefore, the present study was designed to understand the toxicity effects of λ-cyhalothrin on behaviour, oxidative stress and neurotoxicity in a vertebrate aquatic model, zebrafish (Danio rerio).

The use of new dynamic scaffolds for constructing inorganic and organometallic complexes with enhanced reactivities is an important new research direction. Toward this fundamental aim, an improved synthesis of the dynamic scaffold selenanthrene, along with its monoxide, -dioxide and the previously unknown trioxide, is reported. A discussion of the potential reaction mechanism for selenanthrene is provided, and all products were characterized using H, C, and Se nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray crystallography.
