Although dengue virus (DENV) replication occurs in the cytoplasm, the nucleus plays an essential role during infection. Both the capsid protein (C) and non-structural protein 5 (NS5) are translocated into the infected cell nucleus to favor viral replication. Previously, our group reported the nuclear localization of the NS3 protein during DENV infection of mosquito cells; however, the nuclear localization of the DENV NS3 protein in human host cells has not been described. Here, we demonstrated that NS3 is present in the nucleus of Huh7 cells at early infection times, and later, it is mainly located in the cytoplasm.

Coronary artery calcification (CAC) is a key marker of coronary artery disease (CAD) but is often underreported in cancer patients undergoing non-gated CT or PET/CT scans. Traditional CAC assessment requires gated CT scans, leading to increased radiation exposure and the need for specialized personnel. This study aims to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) method to automatically detect CAC from non-gated, freely-breathing, low-dose CT images obtained from positron emission tomography/computed tomography scans.

In chick embryos prior to primitive streak formation, the outermost extraembryonic region, known as the area opaca (AO), was generally thought to act only by providing nutrients and mechanical support to the embryo. Just internal to the AO is a ring of epiblast called the marginal zone (MZ), separating the former from the inner, area pellucida epiblast. The MZ does not contribute cells to any part of the embryo but is involved in determining the position of primitive streak formation from the adjacent area pellucida epiblast.

Elevated blood levels of estrogens are associated with poor prognosis in estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancers, but the relationship between circulating blood hormone levels and intracellular hormone concentrations are not well characterized. We observed that MCF-7 cells treated acutely with 17β-estradiol (E2) retain a substantial amount of the hormone even upon removal of the hormone from the culture medium. Moreover, global patterns of E2-dependent gene expression are sustained for hours after acute E2 treatment and hormone removal.

Cisplatin is an antineoplastic drug that exhibits toxicity dependent on dosage and has adverse reproductive effects. (Bitter melon) is a natural vegetable plant; its active ingredients possess antioxidant, apoptotic, antiproliferative, hypoglycemic, and other therapeutic properties. This study evaluates the effect of the administration of bitter melon extract, cisplatin, and cisplatin/bitter melon cotreatment on liver and kidney functions, serum and testicular oxidative status, testis histology, and sperm parameters.

While most tumors maintain telomeres through the action of telomerase, a subset of tumors utilize a DNA-templated process termed Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres or ALT. ALT is associated with mutations in the ATRX/DAXX/H3.
