Effects of high magnetic fields [MFs, ≥ 1 T (T)] on osteoblastic differentiation and the orientation of cells or matrix proteins have been reported. However, the effect of low MFs (< 1 T) on the orientation of bone formation is not well known. This study was performed to verify the effects of low MFs on osteoblastic differentiation, bone formation, and orientation of both cells and newly formed bone. An apparatus was prepared with two magnets (190 mT) aligned in parallel to generate a parallel MF. , bone marrow-derived stromal cells of rats were used to assess the effects of low MFs on cell orientation, osteoblastic differentiation, and mineralization. A bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-2-induced ectopic bone model was used to elucidate the effect of low MFs on microstructural indices, trabecula orientation, and the apatite -axis orientation of newly formed bone. Low MFs resulted in an increased ratio of cells oriented perpendicular to the direction of the MF and promoted osteoblastic differentiation . Moreover, analysis demonstrated that low MFs promoted bone formation and changed the orientation of trabeculae and apatite crystal in a direction perpendicular to the MF. These changes led to an increase in the mechanical strength of rhBMP-2-induced bone. These results suggest that the application of low MFs has potential to facilitate the regeneration of bone with sufficient mechanical strength by controlling the orientation of newly formed bone.

This study investigated whether the galactooligosaccharide (GOS)-metabolism-related genes (GOS-cluster) in contribute to alleviating glucose and lipid metabolic disorders in type 2 diabetic mice. Genomic analysis of 69 strains based on the GOS-cluster, combined with in vitro fermentation experiments, revealed that high-GOS-cluster strains (≥24 MFS, ≥39 GOS-cluster) demonstrated superior GOS utilization and bile salt tolerance. In vivo the high-GOS-cluster strains resulted in a significant reduction of blood glucose levels by 18.

This study represents the first in situ investigation into the effects of magnetic fields (MFs) on soft-bottom macrofauna communities, laying the groundwork for further studies to better understand their potential consequences on marine ecosystems. Conducted in the Natural Park of the Strait (Southern Iberian Peninsula), the study measured MFs generated by HVAC cables and assessed their impact on soft-bottom macrofauna communities by comparing areas exposed to MFs with two control areas at different depths. Measured MF intensities were relatively low, with a maximum deviation from background levels of 34 nT near the cable, decreasing to 1 nT at 250 m distance.
