Intraneural lipomas are rare soft-tissue tumors that can occur particularly within the median nerve. Even fewer cases have been reported of their occurrence within the ulnar nerve. These masses can cause compression neuropathies. In this report, we present the first documented case of an intraneural lipoma of an ulnar digital nerve.

Intraneural lipomas and lipofibromas are rare, benign median nerve tumours. We report a 62-year-old woman with carpal tunnel syndrome owing to an intraneural lipoma. MRI is the reference standard investigation for diagnosis, directing treatment towards operative or non-operative management.

Lipofibromatous hamartoma (LFH) of the median nerve is a rare condition in the hand and often remains asymptomatic for a significant period. MRI imaging can reveal unique tumour characteristics; however, the definitive diagnosis is confirmed through a tissue biopsy. In this report, a 38-year-old male presented with a gradually growing mass on his right hand.

Background: Adipose lesions of nerve are rare tumors that can cause nerve symptoms from either intrinsic or extrinsic compression.

Observations: The authors present a case of a patient with a 10-year history of progressive, persistent leg pain and dorsal foot paresthesias/dysesthesias. Imaging revealed several nondistinct nodules of indeterminate significance along the course of the superficial peroneal nerve (SPN).

Intraneural lipomas and lipofibromas (also called lipofibromatous hamartomas) are rare, benign tumours occurring in peripheral nerves in the forearm and wrist. They usually present as asymptomatic masses, but if they are large enough, they may cause symptoms of compression neuropathy. Intraneural lipomas and lipofibromas differ with regard to anatomy and clinical behaviour: the former tumour has a well-defined capsule and most commonly occurs within the median nerve in the forearm and wrist.

Intraneural lipoma of the ulnar nerve is a rare peripheral nerve tumor in an uncommon location. Although its benign course, it can cause disabling symptoms such as pain, diminished sensation or paraesthesia, tenderness, and occasionally even loss of strength. We present the case of a middle age woman with insidious paresthesias and swelling of the hypothenar eminence of the left hand for over 1 year.
