The objective of the present study was to determine whether the addition of a blend based on the essential oils of cinnamon, oregano, and eucalyptus to the liquid diets of calves would stimulate the immune system combined with anti-inflammatory action, minimize oxidative responses, and alter the intestinal microbiota, consequently enhancing animal growth. Twenty-four male Holstein calves (approximately five days old) were suckled for 60 days, underwent a weaning process, and were followed up until day 75 of the experiment. The calves were divided into control ( = 12) and phytobiotic ( = 12) groups, receiving commercial milk replacer and pelleted concentrate ad libitum.

Wilson's disease (WD) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by mutations in the ATP7B gene, resulting in copper accumulation. Symptoms rarely appear before the age of 5, almost never before 3. The phenotypic variability of WD suggests the presence of modifying factors, making early diagnosis challenging.

Background: Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) is one of the most abundant and important bioactive polyphenolic compounds in green tea. However, despite its potent antioxidant effects, its neuroprotective effects on chronic high altitude (HA)-induced nerve damage have not been reported. The purpose of this study is to use quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) with pathology to dynamically evaluate the status of brain damage and the effect of EGCG.

Background: Ceruloplasmin (Cp) is the most important serum copper transport protein playing a key role in the binding of iron to transferrin. It is a positive acute-phase response protein and the first-level diagnostic marker for Wilson disease and aceruloplasminemia. However, standardization of Cp measurement has not been successful, and assay specific reference levels of Cp are required.

The objective of this work was to determine whether the addition of phytogenic compounds based on essential oils (carvacrol, eugenol, cinnamaldehyde) and resinous pepper oil (capsaicin) to the diet of Jersey cows at the beginning of lactation affects anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immunomodulatory responses, as well as whether there are effects of EO on blood metabolites, ruminal fermentation, digestibility and milk production and composition. Six primiparous cows (370.00 ± 17 kg body weight (BW); 13.
