Vaccines (Basel)
December 2024
Faculty of Medicine, University Vita-Salute San Raffaele, 20132 Milan, Italy.
Background: The success of vaccination programs depends on a complex interplay of logistical, social, and structural factors. The objective of this study was to analyze the different approaches to vaccine administration implemented by several Italian regions since the onset of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
Methods: After careful qualitative review of information gathered from scientific articles, official reports (grey literature), contact with regional health authorities, and local health departments, five vaccination strategies across several Italian regions focusing on alternative vaccine providers and/or settings were identified.

INFN-Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati, Via E. Fermi 54, 00044 Frascati, Italy.
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the urgent need for rapid, sensitive, and reliable diagnostic tools for detecting SARS-CoV-2. In this study, we developed and optimized a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor incorporating advanced materials to enhance its sensitivity and specificity. Key parameters, including the thickness of the silver layer, silicon nitride dielectric layer, molybdenum disulfide (MoS) layers, and ssDNA recognition layer, were systematically optimized to achieve the best balance between sensitivity, resolution, and attenuation.

Introduction: Lower respiratory infections have a huge impact on global health, especially in older individuals, immunocompromised people, and those with chronic comorbidities. The COVID-19 pandemic highlights the importance of vaccination. However, there are lower rates of vaccination in the adult population that are commonly due to a missed opportunity to vaccinate.

The Roundtable on Obesity Solutions (ROOS), established in 2014, is a unique organization of multisectoral voices addressing the public health challenge of obesity. The ROOS brings together practitioners, researchers, funders, companies, health systems, government agencies, and the lived experience to dialogue and guide the national conversation about the multilevel challenges and opportunities related to obesity. This paper presents insights and key learnings from a symposium developed to celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the ROOS.
