Typical laccases have four copper atoms, which form three different copper centers, of which the T1 copper is responsible for the blue color of the enzyme and gives it a characteristic absorbance around 610 nm. Several laccases have unusual spectral properties and are referred to as yellow or white laccases. Only two yellow laccases from the Ascomycota phylum have been described previously, and only one amino acid sequence of those enzymes is available. A yellow laccase Bcl1 from strain 241 has been identified, purified and characterized in this work. The enzyme appears to be a dimer with a molecular mass of 186 kDa. The gene encoding the Bcl1 protein has been cloned, and the sequence analysis shows that the yellow laccase Bcl1 is phylogenetically distinct from other known yellow laccases. In addition, a comparison of amino acid sequences, and 3D modeling shows that the Bcl1 laccase lacks a conservative tyrosine, which is responsible for absorption quenching at 610 nm in another yellow asco-laccase from . High thermostability, high salt tolerance, broad substrate specificity, and the ability to decolorize dyes without the mediators suggest that the Bcl1 laccase is a potential enzyme for various industrial applications.

In this study, waste hemp fibers were transformed into cationically modified lignocellulosic adsorbent through a three-step process. First, a delignification/defibrillation pretreatment was performed, followed by quaternization of fibers using the synthesized ionic liquid chlorocholine chloride-urea (CCC-U). Pressure-assisted cross-linking of modified fibres, using a citric acid, produced new membrane (CCC-UHM).

As an emerging non-wood resource, moso bamboo has attracted extensive attention because of its short growth cycle and high holocellulose content. However, the internal structure of moso bamboo is more compact than that of wood, leading to higher chemical consumption during the pulping process, which greatly reduces the quality of the extracted fibers. Herein, an innovative pulping system including enzymes and alkali is proposed to achieve higher-quality extraction of moso bamboo fibers.

Background: Nanozymes have the advantages of cost effective, simple synthesis, high durability and stability, and have been widely used in various fields. However, only a few nanomaterials with multiple enzyme-like activity have been reported, and most of the currently developed nanozymes are usually used in colorimetric or fluorescence analysis depending on a single colorimetric or fluorescence signal output. In this study, a copper-based dual-ligand biomimetic nanoflower (Cu-MN) was constructed, which demonstrated potential multiple enzyme-like activity, and was applied to the multi-mode detection of 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DP), epinephrine (EP), and HO.

Acting as an extremely promising fungal pesticide, Metarhizium rileyi exhibits robust insecticidal activity against Lepidoptera pests, particularly the larvae. Though there is a slight delay in efficacy, biopesticides offer salient advantages over traditional chemical pesticide especially in environmental safety, cyclic infection and resistant inhibition. In this study, an exterior T-DNA was randomly inserted into the genome of M.

The intelligently efficient, reliable, economical and portable onsite assay toward pyrethroid pesticides (PPs) residues is critical for food safety analysis and environmental pollution traceability. Here, a fluorescent nanozyme Cu-ATP@ [Ru(bpy)] with laccase-like activity was designed to develop a versatile machine learning-assisted colorimetric and fluorescence dual-modal assay for efficient onsite intelligent decision recognition and quantification of PPs residues. In the presence of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), the laccase-like activity of Cu-ATP@ [Ru(bpy)] was enhanced to oxidize colorless o-phenylenediamine (OPD) into dark-yellow 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP) via electron transfer, appearing a new yellow fluorescence at 550 nm.
