Despite advancements in chronic arthritis treatment, there remains a significant demand for advanced nanotechnologies capable of efficiently delivering a wide range of therapeutic agents to provide symptomatic relief and facilitate the healing of inflamed cartilage tissue. Considering the significant impact of hypoxia on the development and maintenance of chondral tissue, replicating its effects on stem cells could be a potential approach for the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA). Cobalt is a prominent hypoxia-inducing agent, owing to its ability to activate the hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) pathway regardless of cellular oxygen levels.

Microplastics (MPs) have been detected in various environmental matrices, drinking water, and food, and their presence is an ecological and human health concern. Most research on MPs has focused solely on their detection and analysis. However, sample pretreatment methods are critical for accurate MP analysis and must be properly established.

Background: Chitosan nanoparticles (CsNPs) are an effective and inexpensive approach for DNA delivery into live cells. However, most CsNP synthesis protocols are not optimized to allow long-term storage of CsNPs without loss of function. Here, we describe a protocol for CsNP synthesis, lyophilization, and sonication, to store CsNPs and maintain transfection efficiency.

Polymer-brush-grafted nanoparticles (PGNPs) that can be covalently crosslinked post-processing enable the fabrication of mechanically robust and chemically stable polymer nanocomposites with high inorganic filler content. Modifying PGNP brushes to append UV-activated crosslinkers along the polymer chains would permit a modular crosslinking strategy applicable to a diverse range of nanocomposite compositions. Further, light-activated crosslinking reactions enable spatial control of crosslink density to program intentionally inhomogeneous mechanical responses.

Fiber-reinforced composites (FRCs) possess a remarkable strength-to-weight ratio, making them ideal light-weighing alternative materials of metals used in automotive, aerospace, and outdoor equipment applications, but their recycling is challenging. Chemically recyclable thermoset polymers can enable fiber recovery and reuse; however, challenges remain in the separation and purification of depolymerized small molecules for efficient polymer recycling. To this end, a series of liquid resins for chemically recyclable polymer networks is designed based on phthalic anhydride, a widely produced and inexpensive chemical.
