The design of polymers from renewable resources with recycling potential comes from economic and environmental problems. This work focused on the impact of disulphide bonds in the dicarboxylic acids reactions with three epoxidized vegetable oils (EVOs). For the first time, the comparison between aromatic vs. aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, containing or not S-S bonds with EVOs was discussed and evaluated by dynamic scanning calorimetry. The obtained thermosets showed reprocessability, by the dual dynamic exchange mechanism. The virgin and reprocessed materials were characterized and the thermomechanical properties were compared. The thermosets derived from EVOs with high epoxy content combined with aromatic diacids containing disulphide bridges showed high glass transition values (~111 °C), high crosslink densities and good solvent stability.

Hyaluronidases have been a subject of great interest in medical and cosmeceutical applications. Previously, our group demonstrated that the venom glands of contain hyaluronidase enzymes (VesT2s), and heterologous expression of the corresponding gene () in systems results in inclusion bodies, necessitating functional folding using urea. Here, we report the successful heterologous expression of VesT2a in the expression system, with gene construction achieved using Golden.

The study aimed to prepare complex gels of sonicated quinoa protein (QP) and polysaccharides, comparing the effects of different protein components and pH on gel properties. FTIR analysis demonstrated that the β-structure in protein at pH 7.0 was enhanced by ultrasonic treatment, which could promote the formation of a gel network.

Metal-catalytic conversion of polysulfide reagents is a major challenge in organic synthesis due to its challenging activation modes of multiple S-S bonds. The utilization of aryl di- and trithiosulfonates in nickel-catalyzed reductive coupling with aryl halides has been unexplored. Herein, we unprecedentedly describe PPh and Zn-collaborative reduction-induced nickel-catalytic selective C-S coupling of aryl di/trithiosulfonates with aryl halides to access sulfides over common disulfides or trisulfides.

This study investigated the effects of formulation and ultrasound on the processing properties and nutrient digestion of soy protein isolate (SPI)-egg white protein (EWP) emulsion gels. The incorporation of EWP significantly improved the texture properties and freeze-thaw stability through disulfide bonds and homogeneous networks in comparison to SPI emulsion gels. However, swelling ratio of emulsion gels at SPI:EWP ratios of 3:1 and 2:1 decreased due to disruption of SPI network continuity.

The use of green fluorescence protein (GFP) has advanced numerous areas of life sciences. An ultra-thermostable GFP (TGP), engineered from a coral GFP, offers potential advantages over traditional jellyfish-derived GFP because of its high stability. However, owing to its later discovery, TGP lacks the extensive toolsets available for GFP, such as heavy chain-only antibody binders known as nanobodies.
