Horizontal visibility graph of a random restricted growth sequence.

Adv Appl Math

Department of Statistics, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX 77843, USA.

Published: March 2021

We study the distributional properties of horizontal visibility graphs associated with random restrictive growth sequences and random set partitions of size . Our main results are formulas expressing the expected degree of graph nodes in terms of simple explicit functions of a finite collection of Stirling and Bernoulli numbers.

Assessment of corneal vessels activity through the 'Barcode sign' of corneal OCT.

Eye (Lond)

January 2025

Division of Clinical Neuroscience, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Nottingham, Nottingham, UK.

Background/objectives: Anterior segment optical Coherence Tomography (AS-OCT) is used extensively in imaging the cornea in health and disease. Our objective was to analyse and monitor corneal vascularisation (CVas) through the corresponding back-shadows visible on AS-OCT.

Subjects/methods: AS-OCT scans were obtained from 26 consecutive patients (eyes) with CVas of different aetiologies.

Immaturities exist at multiple levels of the developing human visual pathway, starting with immaturities in photon efficiency and spatial sampling in the retina and on through immaturities in early and later stages of cortical processing. Here we use Steady-State Visual Evoked Potentials (SSVEPs) and controlled visual stimuli to determine the degree to which sensitivity to horizontal retinal disparity is limited by the visibility of the monocular half-images, the ability to encode absolute disparity or the ability to encode relative disparity. Responses were recorded from male and female human participants at average ages of 5.

Efficacy of Novel Digital-Based Surgical Guide in the Limited Interocclusal Distance.

Bioengineering (Basel)

November 2024

Department of Prosthodontics, Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, College of Medicine, The Catholic University of Korea, Seoul 06591, Republic of Korea.

Accurate implant placement is essential for achieving successful outcomes. To aid in this, digitally designed surgical guides have been introduced. Both closed-sleeve and open-sleeve designs are commonly utilized.

[Simultaneous Removal of Antibiotic-resistant Bacteria, Genes, and Inhibition of Horizontal Transfer using Vis-rGO-CNCF-enhanced Peroxymonosulfate Activation Process].

Huan Jing Ke Xue

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Pollution Control and Resource Reuse, College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tongji University, Shanghai 200082, China.

As emerging contaminants, antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARBs) and antibiotic-resistant genes (ARGs) pose a serious threat to human health and ecological security. Here, a reduced graphene oxide and g-CN co-doped copper ferrite (rGO-CNCF) were synthesized. The composite material was characterized using XRD, FTIR, XPS, SEM-EDS, TEM, and DRS analysis methods, and a visible-light-assisted rGO-CNCF-activated PMS system was constructed for the removal of ARB and ARGs in water.

Background: Ionizing radiation (IR) is a occupational risk for healthcare professionals, which can result in a range of health issues.

Objectives: This study aims to assess the relationship between low-dose IR exposure and the development of early aging-related skin wrinkles in healthcare workers.

Methods: In the current cross-sectional study, 70 health workers exposed to low-dose ionizing radiation for at least five years were compared with 70 non-exposed health workers.
