Saffron has been traditionally used for various health benefits, but its effects on biomarkers of liver function, kidney function, and blood pressure in diabetes are not well understood. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the impact of saffron supplementation on systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), fasting blood glucose (FBG), liver enzymes (ALT, AST), and kidney function markers (BUN, creatinine) in patients with diabetes and prediabetes. A comprehensive search was conducted across multiple databases to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing saffron/crocin supplementation on glycemic control, hepatic and renal function, and blood pressure regulation in patients with diabetes and prediabetes.

Background: Cancer-associated cachexia can inhibit immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy efficacy. Cachexia's effect on ICI therapy has not been studied in large cohorts of cancer patients aside from lung cancer. We studied associations between real-world routinely collected clinical cachexia markers and disability-free, hospitalization-free and overall survival of cancer patients.

Background: The treatment of transplant ureteral stricture (TUS) has been a great challenge, and there is limited experience with indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence-guided robotic Boari flap-pelvis anastomosis to identify ureteral stenosis segments (especially long-segment) and their postoperative blood supply. We report case series of ureteral strictures treated with ICG fluorescence-guided robotic Boari flap-pelvis anastomosis in our center.

Case Description: We retrospectively collected clinical data of six patients diagnosed with long-segment even full-length TUS who underwent robotic Boari flap-pelvis anastomosis with the assistance of modified distribution of robotic ports and ICG fluorescence between June 2022 and June 2024, focusing on postoperative renal function, stenosis recurrence, and urinary fistulae.

Background: The phase 3 open-label KEYNOTE-426 study demonstrated that first-line pembrolizumab plus axitinib improved overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) versus sunitinib for metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) in a global population. This subgroup analysis investigated the efficacy and safety of pembrolizumab-axitinib versus sunitinib in patients enrolled in KEYNOTE-426 in East Asia (Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan).

Methods: Adults with clear cell mRCC were randomly assigned 1:1 to receive intravenous pembrolizumab 200 mg every 3 weeks with oral axitinib 5 mg twice daily or oral sunitinib 50 mg once daily (4 weeks on/2 weeks off).

Glutamate-rich WD40 repeat containing 1 (GRWD1) is a novel oncogene/oncoprotein that downregulates the p53 tumor suppressor protein through several mechanisms. One important mechanism involves binding of GRWD1 to RPL11, which competitively inhibits the RPL11-MDM2 interaction and releases RPL11-mediated suppression of MDM2 ubiquitin ligase activity toward p53. Here, we mined the TCGA (The Cancer Genome Atlas) database to gain in-depth insight into the clinical relevance of GRWD1.
