Linn. (Urticaceae) is a medicinal plant that has shown various therapeutic utilities in folklore medicine along with its use in the treatment of epilepsy. The entire plant has a sensible reservoir of nutritional elements and micronutrients. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the antiepileptic effect of antioxidant potent extract of root on animal models. Antioxidant activity of various solvent extracts i.e. Petroleum ether extract (PEE), Ethyl acetate extract (EAE), Chloroform extract (CE) and Ethanolic extract (EE) were screened by DPPH radical scavenging assay using Ascorbic acid as the standard. Further the most potent antioxidant extract was subjected to antiepileptic activity against MES and PTZ model. The IC values of different extracts (PEE, CE, EAE, and EE) in antioxidant assay were found to be 167.54 ± 1.97, 134.41 ± 0.82, 88.15 ± 1.39 and 186.38 ± 1.91 μg/ml in DPPH radical scavenging assay, respectively. The EAE has showed the potent antioxidant activity. In experimental study the EAE (100 and 200 mg/kg, p.o) has found to be effective and significant against MES and PTZ induced seizures. The present study also suggested that antioxidant potent extract (EAE) of root has antiepileptic effect against MES and PTZ induced seizures. However, further research studies will investigate the active component(s) of responsible for the observed anticonvulsant effects.

Ten compounds were separated by various modern chromatographic methods from mastic. They were identified by HR-ESI-MS, IR, UV, NMR, quantum chemical calculation of NMR(qcc-NMR) and comparison with reported data in literature as 17β-hydroxy-28-norolean-18-en-3-one(1), 28-norolean-12,17-dien-3,11-dione(2), 28-norolean-16,18-dien-3-one(3),(24Z)-26-hydroxy-7,24-dientirucalla-3-one(4), masticadienonic acid(5)、masticadienolic acid(6)、erythrodiol(7), 3β,28-dihydroxyoleana-11,13(18)-diene(8), 3-oxo-olean-9(11),12-dien-28-oic acid(9), and 12-oleane-3,11-dione(10). Among them, compound 1 was a novel compound and compound 2 was a novel natural product.

Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) is known to exacerbate chronic respiratory disorders, primarily by inducing inflammatory responses and mucus overproduction. Perilla leaves are reported to have significant health benefits, such as antioxidant, antibacterial, and antiallergic properties, attributed to phenolic compounds that vary depending on genetic diversity.

Chicken thigh is a popular and widely consumed meat product. However, its high moisture content and susceptibility to microbial spoilage limit its shelf life. To address this issue, we investigated the efficacy of an edible coating based on alginate nanoparticles (AlgNPs) containing menthol, essential oil (EO), or their combination for extending the shelf life of chicken thigh.

Effective wound healing requires biocompatible and functional wound dressings. This study explores the synergistic potential of gellan gum (GG), known for its exceptional gel-forming abilities, and acacia stingless bee honey (SBH), for its potent antioxidant properties, in developing advanced wound care solutions. GG hydrogel films incorporated with varying concentrations of SBH (v/v) at 10 % (GGSBH10), 15 % (GGSBH15), and 20 % (GGSBH20) were characterized.

Plants constitute a source of natural phytochemical components which are widely known for their potential biological activities. This work concerned a study of the antioxidant, anticancer and anti-inflammatory activities of squirting cucumber (Ecballium elaterium L.) parts (flowers, fruits, leaves and stems) using different solvent extracts (cyclohexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, methanol and water).
