Background And Aim: Interest in plants with antimicrobial properties has been revived due to emerging problems associated with using antibiotics to eradicate . Accordingly, this study aims to assess the antibacterial effects of and the possible synergistic effect of its extract along with metronidazole against .

Materials And Methods: Pomegranate peel ethanol extracts (PPEE) was tested against a control strain of (NCTC 11916) and in female Wistar rats. Moreover, the synergistic effect of PPEE in combination with metronidazole was tested .

Results: The PPEE exhibited a remarkable activity against with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.156 mg/mL. Furthermore, the extract exhibited a pronounced urease inhibitory activity (IC ~6 mg/mL) against the tested strain. A synergistic effect between PPEE and metronidazole was also observed (fractional inhibitory concentrations <0.5). Oral treatment of rats with PPEE for 8 days produced a significant reduction in gastritis and a significant decrease in both lymphocytic and positive chronicity.

Conclusion: Pomegranate extract is probably safe and represents a potential alternative and complementary therapy for reducing associated with gastric ulcers.

The objective of this research is to develop a natural macromolecules-based smart double-layer film using carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) film containing pomegranate peel anthocyanins (PPA) and cellulose acetate nanofibers (CANFs) with Artemisia sieberi Besser essential oil-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers (ABNLCs). Based on the performance as a color indicator, and other studied properties, the CMC/PPA 8 % film was selected as the optimized film. The double-layer film was constructed by electrospinning the CANFs containing ABNLCs on the optimized CMC film.

The sustainable use of pomegranate peel, a by-product of the food industry, is gaining importance in developing pharmaceutical bio-inputs, aligning with circular economy practices and waste reduction. This study explores the application of dry crude pomegranate peel extract (PPE) as a bio-input for medicinal gels with wound healing properties. PPE was extracted via percolation in ethanol and freeze-dried.

Pomegranate peel polyphenols (PPP) are natural compounds known for their various biological activities; however, they are easily degraded by environmental conditions, leading to a reduction in their biological activity and health benefits. Therefore, improving the stability of PPP is a critical question that needs to be addressed. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of five common microcapsule wall materials-carboxymethyl cellulose sodium (CMCNa), sodium alginate (SA), gum Arabic (GA), beta-cyclodextrin (β-CD), and hydroxypropyl starch (HPS)-in encapsulating PPP to enhance its stability and antioxidant activity.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) represents a severe type of central nervous system damage, with no effective treatment currently available, partly due to neuronal ferroptosis and subsequent neuroinflammation. Punicalagin, an anti-inflammatory compound extracted from pomegranate peel, has exhibited therapeutic potential for inflammatory diseases. In this study, we present evidence that punicalagin facilitates the recovery of neurological function following SCI by mitigating neuronal ferroptosis.

Introduction: Iron oxide nanozyme was synthesized from the fruit peel extract of pomegranate, which served as a reducing agent during the green synthesis. The scavenging of reactive oxygen species is often accompanied by immunomodulation following antiproliferative effects due to the crosstalk between the proteins involved in the inter-related signaling pathways.

Method: In the current study, the green synthesized nanozyme was studied for its ability to induce apoptosis in breast cancer cell lines.
