Introduction: The aim of this study is to describe the relationship between executive function (EF) and performance in different areas of the neurocognitive profile in young girls with Fragile-X-Syndrome (FXS).
Method: A neuropsychological assessment was carried out to 40 female participants aged 7-16 years (26 FXS, 14 control group).
Results: Regarding intellectual ability, in the group of girls with FXS 3.84 % of the participants obtained IQ scores in the range of moderate ID (IQ 35-40 to 49), 46.15 % in the range of mild ID (IQ 50-70), 38.46 % in the borderline range (IQ 70-85), and 11.53 % within the average range (IQ > 85). EF was found to have a greater influence on adaptive behavior, arithmetic ability, theory of mind, leadership, social integration, social competence, and anxiety/shyness in the group with FXS.
Conclusions: In girls with FXS, EF showed a greater influence on adaptive behavior, arithmetic ability, and social domain.

Despite this, there is limited evidence on interventions aimed at preventing violence during pregnancy.

Objective: To investigate the effects of nursing interventions based on stress and accommodation theory on the mental state and self-management competence of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods: Fifty-five T2DM patients admitted to our hospital in 2022 who received standard nursing interventions were selected as the control group, and 61 T2DM patients admitted in 2023 who received stress and adaptation theory-based nursing intervention in addition to standard nursing interventions were enrolled as the observation group. Changes of blood glucose levels, mood state score, self-management competence and life quality were compared between the two groups before and after intervention.

CLN2 and CLN3 diseases, the most common types of Batten disease (also known as neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis), are childhood dementias associated with progressive loss of speech, language and feeding skills. Here we delineate speech, language, non-verbal communication and feeding phenotypes in 33 individuals (19 females) with a median age of 9.5 years (range 3-28 years); 16 had CLN2 and 17 CLN3 disease; 8/15 (53%) participants with CLN2 and 8/17 (47%) participants with CLN3 disease had speech and language impairments prior to genetic diagnosis.

Background: Family caregivers of patients with severe acute brain injury (SABI) are at risk for clinically significant chronic emotional distress, including depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress. Existing psychosocial interventions for caregivers of intensive care unit (ICU) patients are not tailored to the unique needs of caregivers of patients with SABI, do not demonstrate long-term efficacy, and may increase caregiver burden. In this study, we explored the needs and preferences for psychosocial services among SABI caregivers to inform the development and adaptation of interventions to reduce their emotional distress during and after their relative's ICU admission.

Plasticity to reduce activity is a common way prey evade predators. However, by reducing activity prey often experience lower individual growth rates because they encounter their own prey less often. To overcome this cost, natural selection should not simply favor individuals generating stronger plasticity to reduce activity rates, but also selection to resume activity once the threat of predation subsides.
