Background: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) shares pathological and genetic underpinnings with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). ALS manifests with diverse symptoms, including progressive neuro-motor degeneration, muscle weakness, but also cognitive-behavioural changes in up to half of the cases.
