Papular acantholytic dyskeratosis (PAD) of the vulva is an uncommon benign condition characterized by multiple hyperkeratotic papules in the anogenital region. First described in 1984, PAD belongs to the spectrum of focal acantholytic dyskeratoses and shares histopathological features with Darier disease and Hailey-Hailey disease. Despite its persistence, PAD is benign, requiring only reassurance in many cases.

: Vulvar epidermolytic hyperkeratosis (EHK) is an exceedingly rare dermatological condition, often presenting as solitary or multiple lesions in the vulvar region. Due to its clinical resemblance to other vulvar disorders, such as condyloma acuminatum, Bowenoid papulosis, and squamous cell carcinoma, vulvar EHK poses significant diagnostic challenges. While individual case reports and small case series have documented instances of vulvar EHK, comprehensive studies systematically consolidating the clinical, histopathological, and therapeutic aspects of this condition remain lacking.

Neuroendocrine cells react to physical, chemical, and synaptic signals originating from tissues and the nervous system, releasing hormones that regulate various body functions beyond the synapse. Neuroendocrine cells are often embedded in complex tissues making direct tests of their activation mechanisms and signaling effects difficult to study. In the nematode worm , four uterine-vulval (uv1) neuroendocrine cells sit above the vulval canal next to the egg-laying circuit, releasing tyramine and neuropeptides that feedback to inhibit egg laying.
