Background: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a common therapy for many hematologic malignancies. While advances in transplant practice have improved cancer-specific outcomes, multiple and debilitating long term physical and psychologic effects remain. Patients undergoing allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (allo-BMT) are often critically ill at initial diagnosis and with necessary sequential treatments become increasingly frail and deconditioned.

Background: Frailty is an important predictor of poor postoperative outcomes in elderly patients with gynaecologic cancer. However, the prevalence and risk factors for frailty in this population remain unclear.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted simultaneously in three gynecology departments of a tertiary hospital in China between January and March 2024.

Emergency Department, Kunshan Hospital Affiliated to Jiangsu University, Qianjin East Road, China. Electronic address:
Objectives: Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) is quite prevalent in the elderly population, and the authors performed a retrospective analysis regarding the predictive value of frailty assessing tools regarding the prognosis of elderly mTBI patients.
Methods: All the patients underwent assessment of frailty upon admission using five tools including Frailty Phenotype (FP), FRAIL Scale (FS), Edmonton Frailty Scale (EFS), Groningen Frailty Indicator (GFI), and Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS). The predicting potential of tools was analyzed against the prognosis defined by the extended Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOSE).

Objective: The Simpler Modified Fried Frailty Scale (SMFFS) has recently been developed from the original Fried scale to ease its use in clinical practice, by transforming the items requiring measurements into the self-reported inquiries. Its predictive validity needs to be clarified, especially in populations with a high prevalence of frailty, such as patients with heart failure (HF). Primary aim of this study is to find out the prevalence of frailty in older patients with HF by using SMFFS and show its concordance with other frailty assessment tools.

The accurate assessment of body composition in cirrhosis is challenging as fluid accumulation affects most techniques. The whole-body counter is a state-of-the-art method that measures total body potassium (TBK) unbiased by fluid, from which body cell mass (BCM) is derived. This pilot study in 20 patients with cirrhosis evaluated bedside tools including the liver frailty index (LFI), bioimpedance analysis-based phase angle, calf circumference (CC), and BMI (body mass index)/edema-adjusted CC, and explored their association with TBK and BCM.
