AI Article Synopsis

  • The study profiles adults aged 20 and over who participate in diabetes and hypertension screening, highlighting key demographics and health behaviors.
  • Using data from Ensanut 2018-19, researchers created logistic regression models to identify factors linked to diabetes and hypertension detection.
  • Findings indicate that individuals with a family history of these diseases, existing health issues, or unhealthy lifestyles are more likely to seek screening; thus, targeted risk assessments are recommended for better detection and diagnosis.

Article Abstract

Objective: We describe the profile of the population aged 20 years and over, who go for a diabetes and hypertension screening test.

Materials And Methods: Based on the information from Ensanut 2018-19, two multiple logistic regression models were obtained with variables associated with the detection of diabetes and hypertension. Profiles were generated based on combinations of the variables included in the model. Increases in probabilities were plotted according to profiles.

Results: Individuals with a family history of the disease, comorbidities or unhealthy lifestyles composed the group that seek for diabetes and hypertension screening.

Conclusions: The health system should look for those with the highest risk of developing or having undiagnosed diabetes and hypertension, using risk questionnaires, type score. This population should undergo screening studies and, where appropriate, diagnoses.

Purpose: Women with gestational diabetes (GDM) have increased risk of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDP). However, knowledge remains limited for women with high-risk metabolic profiles, regardless of GDM diagnosis. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of HDP among women at high risk for GDM, while simultaneously identifying potential predictive clinical risk factors of HDP.

Objective: Coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring may be a useful tool for assessing cardiovascular disease in young adults, particularly in those with risk factors such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, or smoking. In this study, we aimed to address the risk factors for developing noncalcified plaque in young adults by assessing total plaque burden.

Methods: A single-center retrospective cohort study was conducted among 1026 consecutive patients aged 18-45 years who underwent CAC scoring and coronary computed tomography (CT) angiograms for clinical indications.

Introduction: Cardiac Amyloidosis (CA) is characterised by amyloid fibril deposits causing heart failure (HF). Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is recognised as a potential red flag for CA, but the association remains underexplored in large-scale studies.

Methods: This nationwide registry-based cohort study in Denmark included subjects ≥60 years with a history of LSS surgery.

Objectives: Acute myocardial infarction is a critical medical condition that poses a significant risk to life. It is distinguished by the abrupt cessation of blood flow to a specific segment of the cardiac muscle. Acute myocardial infarction accounts for more than 15 % of global mortality annually.

Purpose Of Review: Metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is increasing throughout the world, affecting nearly one in three individuals. Kidney stone disease, which is also increasing, is associated with MASLD. Common risk factors for both, including obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome, are likely drivers of this association.
