To evaluate the safety profile, including adverse drug reactions and operative complications, of liposomal bupivacaine (LB) use for local anesthesia during functional septorhinoplasty. Retrospective review. A database query was conducted for patients >18 years of age who underwent septorhinoplasty from January 1, 2019, to August 1, 2020. Adverse drug reactions and postoperative outcomes were compared between patients who received locally administered LB and patients who received standard local anesthetic at the completion of the surgery. A total of 95 cases were included in our data analysis. No significant differences were found in adverse reactions overall (6.3% vs. 3.1%,  = 0.51) or complications, including rate of infection (3.2% vs. 3.1%,  = 1), cartilage warping (1.6% vs. 0%,  = 1), graft resorption (0% vs. 0%,  = 1), septal hematoma (0% vs. 0%,  = 1), and need for revision surgery (4.8% vs. 3.1%,  = 1) between LB and control groups. LB demonstrated an acceptable safety profile when compared with standard local anesthetics during septorhinoplasty, with no significant difference in systemic or local adverse drug reactions or postoperative complications.

Acne vulgaris (AV) is a common chronic inflammatory skin disorder that commonly lasts from adolescence to adulthood and has serious social and psychological consequences. Current treatments typically use antibacterial drugs, which contributes to the rise in antibacterial drug resistance. Spironolactone, a potassium-sparing diuretic with anti-androgen effects, has been used off-label to treat acne by lowering sebum production.

Objective: High body mass index (BMI) may reduce ulcerative colitis (UC) treatment efficacy. Etrasimod is an oral, once-daily (QD), selective sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P)1,4,5 receptor modulator for the treatment of moderately to severely active UC. This post hoc analysis assessed treatment outcomes according to BMI in ELEVATE UC 52 and ELEVATE UC 12.

Background: Many studies indicate that high and multiple doses of anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) for athletic enhancement can result in serious and irreversible adverse effects. A study that includes laboratory blood testing to evaluate the direct effects of AAS agents among users has not been previously undertaken. The purpose of this study was to investigate the adverse effects of the use of AAS by athletes and to determine whether AAS use leads to changes in certain blood parameters.
