Herbal Medicine Research Division, National Institute of Food and Drug Safety Evaluation, Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, Republic of Korea.

Published: April 2016

The complete chloroplast genome sequence of gigas, a traditional herbal plant used in treating diseases, was obtained by de novo assembly using illumina sequencing data (Illumina Inc., San Diego, CA). The circular molecule of the genome was constructed of four parts, with a size of 146,916 bp in total - a large single copy (LSC) region of 93,118 bp, a small single copy (SSC) region of 17,582 bp and two inverted repeat (IRa and IRb) regions of 18,108 bp each. There were a total of 113 annotated genes, including 80 protein-coding genes, 29 tRNA genes and four rRNA genes. The phylogenetic result acquired through maximum parsimony analysis showed that is closely related with and .

Background: The confused taxonomic classification of Crucigenia is mainly inferred through morphological evidence and few nuclear genes and chloroplast genomic fragments. The phylogenetic status of C. quadrata, as the type species of Crucigenia, remains considerably controversial.

Mitochondrial DNA B Resour

January 2025

School of Agriculture, Yunnan University, Kunming, China.

'Yunqie 9' was selected by the Horticultural Research Institute of Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences based on the local environment of Yunnan Province. It is excellent in fruit quality and yield, but it is relatively weak in disease resistance. No information on complete chloroplast genome and position in the phylogeny of to restrict its genetic improvement.

Molecular chaperones are essential throughout a protein's life and act already during protein synthesis. Bacteria and chloroplasts of plant cells share the ribosome-associated chaperone trigger factor (Tig1 in plastids), facilitating maturation of emerging nascent polypeptides. While typical trigger factor chaperones employ three domains for their task, the here described truncated form, Tig2, contains just the ribosome binding domain.
