Several DNA-binding proteins show the affinities for their specific DNA sites that positively depend on the length of DNA harboring the sites, i. e. antenna effect. DNA looping can cause the effect for proteins with two or more DNA binding sites, i. e. the looping mechanism. One-dimensional diffusion also has been suggested to cause the effect for proteins with single DNA sites, the diffusion mechanism, which could violate detailed balance. We addressed which mechanism is possible for E. coli TrpR showing 10-fold antenna effect with a single DNA binding site. When a trpO-harboring DNA fragment was connected to a nonspecific DNA with biotin-avidin connection, the otherwise sevenfold antenna effect disappeared. This result denies the looping mechanism with an unknown second DNA binding site. The 3.5-fold repression by TrpR in vivo disappeared when a tight LexA binding site was introduced at various sites near the trpO, suggesting that the binding of LexA blocks one-dimensional diffusion causing the antenna effect. These results are consistent with the chemical ratchet recently proposed for TrpR-trpO binding to solve the deviation from detailed balance, and evidence that the antenna effect due to one-dimensional diffusion exists in cells.

Images are important information carriers in our lives, and images should be secure when transmitted and stored. Image encryption algorithms based on chaos theory emerge in endlessly. Based on previous various chaotic image fast encryption algorithms, this paper proposes a color image sector fast encryption algorithm based on one-dimensional composite sinusoidal chaotic mapping.

Developing superionic conductor (SIC) materials offers a promising pathway to achieving high ionic conductivity in solid-state electrolytes (SSEs). The LiGePS (LGPS) family has received significant attention due to its remarkable ionic conductivity among various SIC materials. molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations have been extensively used to explore the diffusion behavior of Li ions in LiGePS.

To study the contaminant transport behavior in the underlying clay liner of a dredged sludge dumping site, a one-dimensional large strain nonlinear consolidation and contaminant transport coupled model is established, and the corresponding numerical solutions for the proposed coupled model is obtained. The numerical results are compared and investigated with the existing theoretical model to verify the correctness of the coupled model. Furthermore, the effects of dredged sludge landfill method and initial effective stress distribution on the contaminant transport behavior in the underlying clay liner and the breakthrough time of the underlying clay liner are investigated.

We investigate the dynamics of non-interacting particles in a one-dimensional tight-binding chain in the presence of an electric field with random amplitude drawn from a Gaussian distribution, and explicitly focus on the nature of quantum transport. We derive an exact expression for the probability propagator and the mean-squared displacement in the clean limit and generalize it for the disordered case using the Liouville operator method. Our analysis reveals that in the presence a random static field, the system follows diffusive transport; however, an increase in the field strength causes a suppression in the transport and thus asymptotically leads towards localization.

Three new sodium manganese fluoro-pyrophosphate compounds, namely, NaMn(PO)F (I), NaMn(PO)F (II), and NaMn(PO)F (III), have been synthesized by heating a mixture of NaPF, NaPOF or NaHPO with different Mn sources in NaNO and KNO fluxes. The structures of the title compounds were characterized single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD). II is characteristic of a shell of Na ions that encloses one [Mn(PO)F] unit, whereas I and III reveal three-dimensional (3D) frameworks that consist of MnO, Mn/NaOF octahedra or MnO octahedra and distorted MnO square pyramids with PO units, where Na cations reside in different-membered ring one-dimensional (1D) tunnels.
