The use of pulmonary rehabilitation reduces symptoms, improves life quality and exercise tolerance. The article presents indications for physical training, their characteristics and assessment of their effectiveness in the rehabilitation of patients with chronic lung diseases. It was noted that the execution of exercise tests (a monitoring with a progressive load increase on a bicycle ergometer or treadmill, a test with a constant load, a 6-minute walk test, a shuttle test with an increasing load and a shuttle test with a constant load) is appropriate for physical training before rehabilitation course. Physical endurance training programs are an essential component of pulmonary rehabilitation. Strength training, flexibility training and upper limb exercises give a good additional effect. To assess the effectiveness after rehabilitation programs, it is advisable to perform tests with physical activity. To assess the effectiveness of rehabilitation, the constant load exercise test and the constant load shuttle test are more sensitive to changes than the increasing load tests.

Identical, inelastic spheres crystallize when sheared between two parallel, bumpy planes under a constant load larger than a minimum value. We investigate the effect of the inter-particle friction coefficient of the sheared particles on the flow dynamics and the crystallization process with discrete element simulations. If the imposed load is about the minimum value to observe crystallization in frictionless spheres, adding small friction to the granular assembly results in a shear band adjacent to one of the planes and one crystallized region, where a plug flow is observed.

Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) have proven to be an effective solution for chemical wastewater treatment, particularly for degradation of organic pollutants, especially dyes. Ozonation is recognized as one of the most prevalent AOPs. Nevertheless, some cases show a lowered efficiency of O utilization which is attributed to its inadequate distribution in the treated water causing low residence time, low mass transfer coefficient as well as shorter half-life.

AC is significantly influenced by arterial wall structure and vasomotion, and it markedly influences cardiac load. A new method, based on a two-element Windkessel model, has been recently proposed for estimating AC as the ratio of the time constant T of the diastolic blood pressure decay and peripheral vascular resistance derived from clinically available stroke volume measurements and selected peripheral blood pressure parameters which are less prone to peripheral distortions.

In this study, we investigated the vibration of adhesively bonded composite cantilevers consisting of two beech wood lamella and a bondline of flexible polyurethane. The beams had a constant total height, while the thickness of the adhesive layer varied. We analyzed both the driven and free vibration of a single cantilever beam and a cantilever with an additional mass attached to its end.
