Babesia species (Piroplasmida) are hemoparasites that infect erythrocytes of mammals and birds and are mainly transmitted by hard ticks (Acari: Ixodidae). These hemoparasites are known to be the second most common parasites infecting mammals, after trypanosomes, and some species may cause malaria-like disease in humans. Diagnosis and understanding of Babesia diversity increasingly rely on genetic data obtained through molecular techniques.

Triacylglycerol (TAG) is a major component of plant-neutral lipids. Diacylglycerol acyltransferase 2 (DGAT2) plays an important role in plant oil accumulation by catalyzing the final step of the Kennedy pathway. In this study, ten DGAT2 sequences were originating from different oil crops into the TAG-deficient yeast strain H1246, to compare their enzyme activity of oil synthesis and filter out potential amino acid residue sites for directed evolution.

The increasing prevalence of neurodegenerative diseases is a formidable task due to their multifactorial causation and treatments limited to disease maintenance and progression. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is reported to be involved with neuropathologies; previous studies from our group suggested the effective binding of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) with EBV nuclear antigen 1 (EBNA1) and glycoprotein H (gH). Therefore, in the current study, we evaluated the anti-EBV effect of ECGG on the neuronal cells.

Objective: In advanced ovarian cancer, the majority of patients receive anti-angiogenic treatment with bevacizumab. The term acute aortic syndrome (AAS) refers to a range of different entities, including dissection, intramural haematoma and penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer. Patients with chronic renal disease and particularly those with dominant polycystic kidney disease are susceptible to this pathology, given the underlying renal arteriopathy and hypertension. Imaging plays a crucial role in diagnosing, grading and guiding management of these patients, with computed tomography angiography (CTA) being on the frontline.
