In this study, UiO-66-NH metal-organic framework (MOF) nanoparticles with peroxidase and oxidase mimetic activities were incorporated into a chitosan (CS) matrix by a simple and environmentally friendly method. The UiO-66-NH/CS composite membrane possesses the peroxidase mimicking activity in the presence of traces of HO, thus resulting in good antibacterial properties. Intriguingly, 30 min of UV pre-irradiation of the UiO-66-NH/CS composite membrane, in the absence of HO, still leads to a good antibacterial activity. This was attributed to the oxidase mimetic activity and the peroxidase mimicking activity of UiO-66-NH. In such a way, the side effects of direct exposure to UV irradiation and HO can be avoided for wound-healing treatments. The antibacterial mechanism was further proved by antibacterial experiments, TMB·2HCl color development experiments, reactive oxygen species generation tests and electron spin resonance tests. As a potential medical antibacterial dressing, in vitro membranes were also investigated.

Glucose is an important source of energy for the human body, but excessive intake will destroy the body's metabolic balance and increase health risks. In this paper, a smartphone glucose colorimetric detection system was developed in a paper-based microfluidic analytical device (µPAD) using green synthetic gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as probes for accurate, rapid and efficient quantitative analysis of glucose in food. The AuNPs, acting as mimetic enzymes, were capable of catalyzing the breakdown of HO generated by the interaction of glucose oxidase (GOx) with glucose to OH, which subsequently oxidized the 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), resulting in a typical green reaction.

Gold nanomaterials, particularly gold nanostars, have emerged as promising enzyme mimetic nanocatalysts due to their enhanced light interaction and superior catalytic efficiency. Human immunoglobulin (HIgG) has gained recognition as a crucial biomarker diagnosing and treating various diseases, particularly in identifying elevated serum levels in conditions like measles and pneumococcal disease. Traditional detection methods, however, are often hindered by inefficiencies, high costs, and potential inaccuracies, underscoring the urgent need for more sensitive, efficient, accurate, and self-calibration methods for HIgG. Here, a novel ZnInS/SnO composites was synthesized, featuring uniformly dispersed SnO nanoparticles on the flower-like ZnInS structure, resulting in a type II heterojunction that promotes the separation and transfer of photogenerated carriers.
