Objective: Optimal perioperative pain management is an essential component of perioperative care for the cardiac surgical patient. This turnkey order set is part of a series created by the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Cardiac Society, first presented at the Annual Meeting of The American Association for Thoracic Surgery in 2023. Several guidelines and expert consensus documents have been published to provide guidance on pain management and opioid reduction in cardiac surgery.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of magnesium sulfate in the treatment of acute severe asthma in adults.
Methods: Literature searches were conducted on PubMed, Cochrane, CNKI, VIP and Wanfang databases to screen randomized controlled trial (RCT) of magnesium sulfate in the treatment of acute severe asthma in adults, starting from the establishment of the database and ending on May 22, 2024. The control group received conventional treatment.

Pediatric asthma exacerbations represent a significant cause of emergency department use and hospitalizations. Despite available treatment options, many children's exacerbations are refractory to standard therapies and require adjunct treatments. The Intravenous Magnesium: Prompt use for Asthma in Children Treated in the Emergency Department study investigated the pharmacology of intravenous magnesium sulfate (IVMg) in treating pediatric asthma exacerbations.

We report a case of pulseless electrical activity (PEA) associated with profound hypermagnesemia immediately after cementation of a novel magnesium-based cement in spine surgery. During T8 to T12 posterior instrumentation and decompression laminectomy for vertebral metastasis secondary to lung cancer, a 61-year-old Chinese woman developed sudden hypotension and went into PEA immediately after injection of a novel magnesium-based cement. Intraoperative fluoroscopic imaging did not show any notable cement extravasation.

We aimed to develop a predictive model for Cis-AKI using patient clinical information based on an interpretable machine learning algorithm. This single-center retrospective study included hospitalized patients aged ≥ 18 years who received the first course of cisplatin chemotherapy from January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2020, at Nagoya City University Hospital.
