Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)-coated glass fiber fabrics are used for long-lasting membrane structures due to their outstanding mechanical properties, chemical stabilities, and satisfying service life. During their operation time, different environmental impacts might influence their performance, especially regarding the mechanical properties. In this contribution, the impact of water on the tensile strength deterioration was assessed experimentally, providing evidence of considerable but partially reversible loss of strength by up to 20% among the various types of investigated industrially established fabrics.

Sweet potatoes are a rich source of nutrients and bioactive compounds, but their quality can be impacted by the drying process. This study investigates the impact of slot jet reattachment (SJR) nozzle and ultrasound (US) combined drying (SJR + US) on sweet potato quality, compared to freeze-drying (FD), SJR drying, and hot air drying (HAD). SJR + US drying at 50 °C closely resembled FD in enhancing quality attributes and outperformed HAD and SJR in key areas such as rehydration, shrinkage ratios, and nutritional composition.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) stand out among many energy storage systems due to their many merits, and it's expected to become an alternative to the prevailing alkali metal ion batteries. Nevertheless, the cumbersome manufacturing process and the high cost of conventional separators make them unfavorable for large-scale applications. Herein, inspired by the unique nature of cellulose and ZrO, a Janus cellulose fiber (CF)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/ZrO separator is prepared via the vacuum filtration method.

Polymerization shrinkage of composite resins affects the marginal closure of direct dental restorations. It is responsible for developing secondary caries and indirectly affects the survival rate of restorations. This study aims to investigate the null hypothesis, which states that there are no significant differences in the marginal microleakage of Class II restorations when examined in vitro using different dental adhesives, whether the restoration material used is a composite with glass fiber reinforcement or not.

Introduction: Down syndrome (DS) is associated with difficulties with feeding during infancy and childhood. Weaning, or transitioning from nursing to independent deglutition, requires developmental progression in tongue function. However, little is known about whether postnatal tongue muscle maturation is impacted in DS.

Herein, a novel dual-function paper-based biosensor using diffusion wet area as readout has been developed for simple and sensitive detection of hyaluronidase (HAase) and human papillomavirus (HPV) 16 DNA, respectively. The target-regulated-water absorption hydrogel synthesized by hyaluronic acid (HA) and single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) is chosen as an ideal material for diffusion wet area generation on paper. The hydrogel can be degraded through the enzymolysis of HA by HAase or the trans-cleavage of ssDNA by HPV DNA-activated CRISPR/cas12a system.
