In this study ultrasound assisted-deep eutectic solvent-based liquid phase microextraction followed by microsampling-flame atomic absorption spectrometry was developed to determine prohibited lead and cadmium traces in hair dye and henna samples. For this purpose, deep eutectic solvent, prepared from choline chloride and phenol, was used as an extraction solvent, dithizone was used as a complexing agent, and THF was used as an aprotic solvent. All parameters that affect extraction efficiency, such as pH, the DES volume and composition, the extraction time, the amount of dithizone, were optimized. Under the optimal conditions, for Pb(ii) and Cd(ii), enhancement factors of 92 and 57, LODs of 2.5 μg L and 0.75 μg L, LOQs of 7.8 μg L and 2.5 μg L, linear working ranges of 10-250 μg L and 2.5-50 μg L, were obtained, respectively. Relative standard deviation (n = 10) was calculated to be 2.7 for 100 μg L of Pb(ii) and 2.1 for 25 μg L of Cd(ii). The matrix effect was investigated by comparing the solvent-based calibration curve with the matrix-matched calibration curve. The determination of lead and cadmium in hair dye and henna samples without being affected by the sample matrix was successfully performed. The lead content was between 1.3 and 6.5 μg g, and the cadmium content was between 0.028 and 0.54 μg g for the selected hair dye and henna samples.

Phyto-nanotechnology provides an eco-friendly approach for synthesizing biocompatible metal nanoparticles (NPs) with therapeutic potential. (LI) has been historically valued for its diverse medicinal applications, especially its exceptional biological potency against various skin diseases, attributed to its rich abundance of bioactive compounds. Therefore, herein, plant-based iron and zinc NPs were biofabricated via sustainable and simple methods, using crude extracts of the aerial parts of LI as reducing, coating, and stabilizing agents.

Background: Henna is a powdered plant material traditionally used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes in Asia and the Mediterranean region. In North America and Europe, however, it is only used to colour the hair and decorate the body. This colouring process is due to the action of the secondary metabolite lawsone, which enables henna to produce orange to red shades of colour.

Background: The increase in allergic diseases in children has coincided with the westernization of lifestyles. Although clustering of modifiable lifestyles has been frequently reported in children, there is limited research on how lifestyle factors collectively contribute to allergic conditions. Our aim was to identify lifestyle clusters among Finnish school-aged children and explore their associations with the prevalence of allergic disease symptoms and sensitization.

Introduction: The Screaming Mummy of Cairo Egyptian-Museum Store, is an anonymous woman with a wide-open mouth coded as CIT8, discovered beneath Theban Tomb 71 (TT71) which is the burial site of Senmut's relatives, the architect of 18th-Dynasty Queen Hatschepsut (1479-1458 BC). The study aims to evaluate if combining computed tomography (CT) with scientific investigations and archeological data of the Screaming Mummy CIT8 will reveal information about its physical appearance, health, cause of death, and mummification.
Methods: We CT-scanned the mummy and created reconstructed images.
