What is wrong with the peer review system? Is peer review sustainable? Useful? What other models exist? These are central yet contentious questions in today's academic discourse. This perspective critically discusses alternative models and revisions to the peer review system. The authors highlight possible changes to the peer review system, with the goal of fostering further dialog among the main stakeholders, including producers and consumers of scientific research.

Background: Early childhood caries (ECC) is a multifactorial disease with known etiologic factors and can be very devastating to the oral and general well-being of a child, including psychological impacts on a growing child. Young children constitute a vulnerable population because of their dependence and inability to communicate their needs. Oral health disparities continue to pose critical challenges, as ECC is the most common chronic disease of childhood.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the lean management strategies used by an outpatient hospital pharmacy in China to reduce internal errors in prescription dispense and to describe their impact on patient satisfaction.
Methods: The type and number of internal errors in prescription dispense from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022, were collected. The causes of these errors were analyzed based on a series of lean management concepts and methods, and Lean Management was implemented from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023, in this outpatient hospital pharmacy.
