Exploring the experiences of women and people with diabetes in pregnancy in metropolitan and rural Australia: a national survey.

BMC Pregnancy Childbirth

January 2025

Department of Rural Health, College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing, University of Newcastle, Tamworth, NSW, Australia.

Background: Women and people diagnosed with diabetes in pregnancy, are recommended to have frequent monitoring and careful management for optimal pregnancy outcomes. This health care management should be supported by a multidisciplinary healthcare team. For individuals living in rural areas, there are increased barriers to healthcare access, with subsequent worse health outcomes compared to those in metropolitan regions.

Subject-specific parameters in lumped hemodynamic models of the cardiovascular system can be estimated using data from experimental measurements, but the parameter estimation may be hampered by the variability in the input data. In this study, we investigate the influence of inter-sequence, intra-observer, and inter-observer variability in input parameters on estimation of subject-specific model parameters using a previously developed approach for model-based analysis of data from 4D Flow MRI acquisitions and cuff pressure measurements. The investigated parameters describe left ventricular time-varying elastance and aortic compliance.

Objectives: Multiplex immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence (mIHC/IF) are emerging technologies that can be used to help define complex immunophenotypes in tissue, quantify immune cell subsets, and assess the spatial arrangement of marker expression. mIHC/IF assays require concerted efforts to optimize and validate the multiplex staining protocols prior to their application on slides. The best practice guidelines for staining and validation of mIHC/IF assays across platforms were previously published by this task force.

Intestinal microbiota could respond to dietary fibres that are fermented by the gut microbiota, like prebiotics. Nevertheless, the dynamics of intestinal microbial community longitudinally after prebiotics intake, are still largely unknown. The current study unrevealed the successional process of intestinal microbial community after inulin supplementation, and the effect of supplementation dosage thereof, based on analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences in C57BL/6 mice.

A mixed method approach to substantiate quantitative data with qualitative data: Improving clinical judgment in prelicensure nursing students using simulation.

Nurse Educ Today

January 2025

University of Washington, United States; Capella University, United States; Bellevue College, United States; Marymount University, Arlington, VA, United States; University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, United States. Electronic address:

Background: Current literature demonstrates a gap in research involving mixed method study of clinical judgment development in prelicensure nursing students.

Objectives: Clinical judgment of two groups of nursing students were compared using the Lasater Clinical Judgment Rubric (LCJR).

Design: A mixed method convergent parallel quasi-experimental cross-sectional approach was used to determine if simulation increased clinical judgment skills between beginner and advanced pre-licensure nursing students.
