Purpose: With the widespread introduction of dual energy computed tomography (DECT), applications utilizing the spectral information to perform material decomposition became available. Among these, a popular application is to decompose contrast-enhanced CT images into virtual non-contrast (VNC) or virtual non-iodine images and into iodine maps. In 2021, photon-counting CT (PCCT) was introduced, which is another spectral CT modality.

Self-efficacy scale for university teaching in virtual environments, SSUTVE.

Heliyon

January 2025

Instituto de Investigación FCCTP, Facultad de Ciencias de la Comunicación, Turismo y Psicología, Universidad de San Martín de Porres, Lima, Peru.

Self-efficacy is relevant in explaining performance and well-being in different domains of human behaviour. Despite this need, there are no instruments that assess self-efficacy in university teaching in virtual environments. Therefore, the objective of this study was to design the Self-Efficacy Scale for University Teaching in Virtual Environments (SSUTVE) and analyse its psychometric properties.

Generating Virtual Bone Scans for the Purpose of Investigating the Effects of Cortical Microstructure.

J Biomech Eng

January 2025

Dr. Carl D. and H. Jane Clay Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ohio Northern University, 525 S. Main St, Ada OH 45810.

Evaluating the contribution of microstructure to overall bone strength is tricky since it is difficult to control changes to pore structure in human or animal samples. We developed an open-source program that can generate three-dimensional models of micron-scale cortical bone. These models can be highly customized with a wide array of variable input parameters to allow for generation of samples with high similarity to CT scans of cortical bone or with specific geometric features.

Introduction: Upper limb (UL) impairment is common in people with multiple sclerosis (pwMS), and functional recovery of the UL is a key rehabilitation goal. Technology-based approaches, like virtual reality (VR), are increasingly promising. While most VR environments are task-oriented, our clinical approach integrates neuroproprioceptive 'facilitation and inhibition' (NFI) principles.
