Background: Both renal function decline and systemic inflammation may synergistically increase the risk of atrial fibrillation (AF). This study investigates the association between estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels with the risk of new-onset AF in patients with diabetes mellitus.
Methods: We included diabetic patients without AF who participated in physical exams in the Kailuan Study from 2006 to 2010.

Objective: Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers account for one-third of global cancer mortality, with nearly half being preventable. This study updates the global burden of GI cancers attributed to major risk factors: smoking, alcohol, and metabolic disturbances.
Methods: We utilized data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 to examine trends in death and age-standardized death rates related to GI cancers caused by smoking, alcohol, high body mass index (BMI), and high fasting blood glucose (FBG) from 2000 to 2021.

Introduction: Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers account for over a quarter of all cancer-related deaths in the United States; however, the latest trends in their prevalence remain unclear.
Methods: Data on GI cancers were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021. Age-standardized incidence rates (ASIR) and age-standardized mortality rates (ASMR) were estimated across various states, sexes, ages, and risk factors, and annual percentage changes were calculated.

Background: Dyslipidemia is a common condition in type two diabetic patients, and it is thought to have a significant role in moderating the cardiovascular risk associated with diabetes. Data on serum lipid profiles in type 2 diabetes patients from Bahir Dar, Ethiopia is limited. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of dyslipidemia among adult type 2 diabetes patients and to explore potential contributing factors.

Heavy alcohol consumption is a known risk factor for type 2 diabetes (T2D), However, the moderating effect of fasting plasma glucose (FPG) levels remains unclear. This study explores the relationship between alcohol intake and T2D risk across FPG strata in a Japanese cohort. Data from 15,453 participants in the NAGALA cohort were analyzed over 5.
