Triangular silver(i) and copper(i) 3,5-diethyl-4-nitropyrazolates (abbreviated as [Ag(denpz)]3 or Ag3pz3, and [Cu(denpz)]3 or Cu3pz3), as well as their adducts with dibenzothiophene (DBT), 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene (DMDBT) and benzothiophene (BT), have been prepared and characterized by a series of techniques. X-ray analyses show that these adducts are stabilized by MS, MC contacts and ππ stacking interactions. NMR measurements and theoretical calculations indicate that the intensity of interaction between the metal complexes and dibenzothiophenes follows the trend: Ag3pz3-DMDBT > Ag3pz3-DBT > Cu3pz3-DMDBT > Cu3pz3-DBT, which can be understood on the basis of a weak interaction between π-acid (Ag3pz3 or Cu3pz3) and π-base (DBT/DMDBT). Both complexes show good adsorptive ability and reusability toward the removal of DBT and DMDBT from model oil (n-octane), with the maximum adsorption capacity at room temperature being 39 mg S (DMDBT) per g Cu3pz3, 34 mg S (DMDBT) per g Ag3pz3, 40 mg S (DBT) per g Cu3pz3, 36 mg S (DBT) per g Ag3pz3, respectively. Compared to Ag3pz3, Cu3pz3 exhibits higher adsorptive capacities for DBT/DMDBT, which has been attributed to its lower molecular mass.

There is growing focus on metal-free molecules and polymers owing to their potential applications in various energy and catalysis-related applications. Melem (2,5,8-triamino--heptazine, CHN) has emerged as a metal-free material for solar-to-fuel conversion. However, its reactivity with metal ions or organic molecules has never been reported although it possesses multiple supramolecular interaction sites.

The dichalcogenide ligated molecules in catalysis to produce molecular hydrogen through electroreduction of water are rarely explored. Here, a series of heterometallic [Ag(SPFc(OR)] [where Fc = Fe(η-CH)(η-CH), R = Me, ; Et, ; Pr, ; Amyl, ] clusters were synthesized and characterized by IR, absorption spectroscopy, NMR (H, P), and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The molecular structures of , , and clusters were established by single-crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis.

Optical sensors based on silver triangular nanoplates (AgTNPs) are insufficiently studied as probes for the spectrophotometric determination of biologically active compounds. In the present article, an interaction between label-free AgTNPs and bioflavonoids in the presence of silver(I) ions was assessed to outline the possibilities of AgTNPs as a colorimetric probe for the fast and sensitive determination of bioflavonoids. It is shown that the interaction was accompanied by a bathochromic shift of the local surface plasmon resonance band of nanoparticles and an increase in its intensity.

The conjugate acids of 1,2,3-triazolylidene mesoionic carbenes can be prepared in a straightforward fashion by alkylation of 1-substituted 1,2,3-triazoles. However, this becomes a much more challenging proposition when other nucleophilic centers are present, which has curtailed the development of ligands containing multiple 1,2,3-triazolylidene donors. Herein, methylation of a series of tris[(1-aryl-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methyl]amines possessing both electron-rich and electron-deficient aromatic substituents, using MeOBF, is shown to proceed with much higher chemoselectivity under mechanochemical conditions than when conducted in solution.
