Interventional cardiology is increasingly being offered to frail elderly people thanks to significant technical progress. Transcatheter aortic valve implantation allows the treatment of aortic stenosis by implanting an aortic bioprosthesis through a catheter, without surgery. The left atrial appendage occlusion limits the risk of ischemic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation who have a contraindication to anticoagulants. These procedures remain invasive and must be proposed after multidisciplinary consultation.

Background: The mechanism by which ibrutinib, a Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitor, can elevate the risk of arrhythmias is not fully elucidated. In this study, we explored how inhibition of off-target kinases can contribute to this phenomenon.
Methods: We performed a Mendelian randomization analysis to examine the causal associations between genetically proxied inhibition of six putative ibrutinib drug targets (ErbB2/HER2, CSK, JAK3, TEC, BLK, and PLCG2) and the atrial fibrillation (AF) risk, proarrhythmic ECG indices, and cardiometabolic traits and diseases.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most frequent type of cardiac disease in cats. Due to its high prevalence and risk of sudden and severe signs, the disease is an important topic of various research. Despite the focus on the clinical course of the disease, studies presenting the pathological and histopathological patterns are rare.

Radiology plays an important role in veterinary cardiology, along with other methods, such as electrocardiography, echocardiography, and biomarkers, in the diagnosis of cardiac diseases. Particularly, thoracic radiography is often used to assess heart size and for confirmation of left-sided congestive heart failure by the presence of pulmonary edema. Many cardiac diseases in dogs are associated with a heart size increase, especially in more advanced stages, and cardiac size assessment has been of great interest for a long time for both clinicians and researchers.

Transseptal puncture (TSP) is widely used in catheter-based cardiac interventions to gain left atrial (LA) access, but its workflow has remained largely unchanged and is still a source of serious complications. Pulsed field ablation (PFA) for pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) has been shown to be at least comparable with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in terms of safety and efficacy. However, PFA catheter delivery to the LA typically requires a standard TSP and an over the wire sheath exchange which can limit workflow and lengthen procedure time-a shorter procedure time being a proposed advantage of PFA over RFA.

A 71-year-old man with a history of atrial fibrillation presented to the emergency department with sudden unconsciousness after finishing lunch. Just 4 weeks ago, the patient underwent radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation and regularly took rivaroxaban for anticoagulant therapy. According to the medical history, the patient suffered recurrent chest tightness and heartburn after radiofrequency ablation without other discomforts.
