Two-dimensional (2D) π-conjugated metal-organic frameworks (πMOFs) are a new class of designer electronic materials that are porous and tunable through the constituent organic molecules and choice of metal ions. Unlike typical MOFs, 2D πMOFs exhibit high conductivity mediated by delocalized π-electrons and have promising applications in a range of electrical devices as well as exotic physical properties. Here, we develop a growth method that generates single-crystal plates with lateral dimensions exceeding 10 μm, orders of magnitude bigger than previous methods. Synthesis of large single crystals eliminates a significant impediment to the fundamental characterization of the materials, allowing determination of the intrinsic conductivity and mobility along the 2D plane of πMOFs. A representative 2D πMOF, Ni-CAT-1, exhibits a conductivity of up to 2 S/cm, and Hall measurement reveals the origin of the high conductivity. Characterization of crystalline 2D πMOFs creates the foundation for developing electronic applications of this promising and highly diverse class of materials.

Background: Clinical trial sponsors rely on research sites to identify and enroll appropriate study participants and to correctly and reliably assess symptom severity and function over the course of the trial. Low-recruiting sites represent a large financial and operational burden and may negatively impact trial success either by selecting inappropriate participants and/or high prevalence of data quality issues. We previously reported that >60% of sites in schizophrenia clinical trials recruited ≤5 participants.

Method: We performed comprehensive human genetic and multi-omics data analyses to test likely causal relationship between EPHX2 (encoding soluble epoxide hydrolase [sEH]) and risk of AD. Next, we tested the effect of the oral administration of EC5026 (a first-in-class, picomolar sEH inhibitor) in a transgenic mouse model of AD-5xFAD and mechanistic pathways of EC5026 in patient induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSC) derived neurons.

Women account for almost two-thirds of Alzheimer's disease (AD) cases, yet evidence significantly less clinical benefit from recently deployed amyloid-lowering therapies. To close this disparity gap, there is an urgent need to identify biological drivers of sex differences in the manifestation and clinical response to AD therapeutics. A recent review of multi-omic studies of AD reported >75% of studies showed female-specific changes at the molecular level (vs.

We report a new NMR method for treating two-site chemical exchange involving half-integer quadrupolar nuclei in a solution. The new method was experimentally verified with extensive Na ( = 3/2), K ( = 3/2), and Rb ( = 3/2) NMR results from alkali metal ions (Na, K, and Rb) in a solution over a wide range of molecular tumbling conditions. In the fast-motion limit, all allowed single-quantum NMR transitions for a particular quadrupolar nucleus are degenerate giving rise to one Lorentzian signal.

Background: Marital status and living status are components of social isolation (SI), a modifiable factor thought to impact cognitive resilience, which has the potential to impact cognition throughout the course of Alzheimer's and related dementia (ADRD) diagnosis. Electronic health records (EHRs) offer access to large scale clinical data, capable of longitudinal analyses.
Method: Cognitive function measurement - Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) - data, demographic (including marital and living status as SI proxies) data and ADRD diagnosis data from patients aged 50+ years from Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (UK) were extracted using natural language processing algorithms from EHRs dated 1995 to 2022.
