Unicoronal synostosis is a rare condition leading to anterior plagiocephaly with facial scoliosis and deformation of the anterior cranial fossa. Fronto-orbital advancement and remodelling (FOAR) is the standard of care for management, aiming to normalise the brow shape and position while ameliorating the risk of raised intracranial pressure (ICP) throughout childhood. Published long-term surgical outcome data for unicoronal synostosis is lacking.

Hurricanes, industrial animal operations, and acute gastrointestinal illness in North Carolina, USA.

Environ Res Health

March 2025

Department of Epidemiology, Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC 27599, United States of America.

North Carolina (NC) ranks third among US states in both hog production and hurricanes. In socially monogamous species, sexual selection not only depends on initial mate choice but also mate switching. To date, studies lack assessment of (1) differences between passive (widowhood) and active (divorce) mate switching, (2) longer term fitness consequences (beyond the season post-divorce) and (3) how age masks reproductive costs and benefits of divorce. We investigated causes and short- and long-term consequences of mate switching and their age dependence using longitudinal data on Seychelles warblers (Acrocephalus sechellensis).

Method: Retrospective review of all PVDOs in our unit over a period of 12 years from 2011 to 2023.

Characterizing the SARS-CoV-2 antibody response and associations with patient factors: Serological profiling of participants enrolled in the GENCOV study.

Clin Biochem

January 2025

Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, ON M5G 1X5, Canada; Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON M5S 1A8, Canada. Electronic address:

Introduction: The GENCOV study sought to evaluate serological differences between individuals with differing COVID-19 severity and outcomes. We assessed the SARS-CoV-2 antibody response of GENCOV participants cross-sectionally 1-, 6-, and 12-months following COVID-19 diagnosis to identify patient factors associated with more robust and durable humoral immune responses.

Materials And Methods: COVID-19 patients and a control cohort of vaccinated infection-naïve participants were recruited at hospital sites across the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, Canada.
