Introduction: An Inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysm (IAAA) is an inflammatory condition involving the abdominal aorta, accounting for 4-7 % of all abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). In general, AAA is asymptomatic, but IAAA can have some features, including pain, constitutional symptoms, elevated inflammatory markers, and distinguishes findings on imaging.

Presentation Of Case: This article is about a 65-year-old man with flank pain who was diagnosed incidentally with IAAA and underwent surgery.

Screen for temperature-sensitive mutants of non-essential yeast genes.

Yeast deletion mutants of crucial genes are often associated with a number of secondary defects, which hamper the analysis of primary protein function. Therefore, temperature-sensitive mutants are valuable tools to evaluate protein function in a focused and often reversible manner. However, temperature-sensitive mutants are uncommon for non-essential genes that nevertheless may have strong defects.

Background And Aims: In 2006, screening of 65-year-old men for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) was started in Sweden. Decline in aneurysm-related mortality has been reported since, but aneurysm incidence has been diminishing globally. Neighbouring Finland with similar population structure and health care system has no AAA screening programme.

Mitochondrial transporters facilitate the exchange of diverse metabolic intermediates across the inner mitochondrial membrane, ensuring an adequate supply of substrates and cofactors to support redox and biosynthetic reactions within the mitochondrial matrix. However, the regulatory mechanisms governing the abundance of these transporters, crucial for maintaining metabolic compartmentalization and mitochondrial functions, remain poorly defined. Through analysis of protein half-life data and mRNA-protein correlations, we identified SLC25A38, a mitochondrial glycine transporter, as a short- lived protein with a half-life of 4 hours under steady-state conditions.

The prohibitins Phb1 and Phb2 assemble at the mitochondrial inner membrane to form a multi-dimeric complex. These scaffold proteins are highly conserved in eukaryotic cells, from yeast to mammals, and have been implicated in a variety of mitochondrial functions including aging, proliferation, and degenerative and metabolic diseases. In mammals, PHB2 regulates PINK1-PRKN mediated mitophagy by interacting with lipidated MAP1LC3B/LC3B.
