We synthesized medium-band-gap donor-acceptor (D-A) -type conjugated polymers (PBTZCZ-L and PBTZCZ-H) consisting of a benzotriazole building block as an acceptor and a carbazole unit as a donor. In comparison with the polymers, a small conjugated molecule (BTZCZ-2) was developed, and its structural, thermal, optical, and photovoltaic properties were investigated. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the BTZCZ-2-based solar cell devices was less than 0.5%, considerably lower than those of polymer-based devices with conventional device structures. However, inverted solar cell devices configured with glass/ITO/ZnO:PEIE/BTZCZ-2:PCBM/MoO/Ag showed a tremendously improved efficiency (PCE: 5.05%, : 9.95 mA/cm, : 0.89 V, and FF: 57.0%). We believe that this is attributed to high energy transfer and excellent film morphologies.

Interfacial trap-assisted nonradiative recombination hampers the development of metal halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Herein, we report a rationally designed universal passivator to realize highly efficient and stable single junction and tandem PSCs. Multiple defects are simultaneously passivated by the synergistic effect of anion and cation.

Recent progress in inverted perovskite solar cells (IPSCs) mainly focused on NiO modification and perovskite (PVK) regulation to enhance efficiency and stability. However, most works address only monofunctional modifications, and identical molecules with the ability to simultaneously optimize NiO interface and perovskite bulk phase have been rarely reported. This work proposes a dual modification approach using 4-amino-3,5-dichlorobenzotrifluoride (DCTM) to optimize both NiO upper interfaces and reduction of bulk defects in perovskite.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have recently achieved over 26% power conversion efficiency, challenging the dominance of silicon-based alternatives. This progress is significantly driven by innovations in hole transport materials (HTMs), which notably influence the efficiency and stability of PSCs. However, conventional organic HTMs like PTAA, although highly efficient, suffer from thermal degradation, moisture ingress, and high cost.

Achieving rational control over chemical and energetic properties at the perovskite/electron transport layer (ETL) interface is crucial for realizing highly efficient and stable next-generation inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs). To address this, we developed multifunctional ferrocene (Fc)-based interlayers engineered to exhibit adjustable passivating and electrochemical characteristics. These interlayers are designed to minimize non-radiative recombination and, to modulate the work function (WF) and uniformity of the perovskite surface, thereby enhancing device performance.

Self-assembled monolayers (SAM) as hole transport layers have been widely used in high-efficiency inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs) exceeded 26 %. However, the poor coverage and non-uniform distribution on the substrate of SAM further restrict the improvement of device performance. Herein, we utilize the mixed SAM strategy via the MeO-2PACz along with perfluorotripropylamine (FC-3283) to improve the SAM coverage, aiming to accelerate the carrier transport, promote the perovskite growth, regulate the surface energy levels and suppress the nonradiative recombination.
