The striped fruit fly, occurred in East and Southeast Asia and is one of the most serious pest insects in China. Complete mitochondrial genome was sequenced and characterized for the fruit fly from Anshun, Guizhou Province in Southwest China. The pest fruit fly has a total length of 15,904 bp, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA, 2 rRNA genes and a non-coding region (A + T-rich control region). The phylogenetic position of was closely clustered with and . The all species of the subgenus formed a sister group which was monophyletic. The complete mitochondrial genome of will provide helpful information for genetics, systematics and phylogeny of tephritid fruit flies, Particularly genus.

Background: Despite some advances in treatment, a cure for Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains elusive. Disease hallmarks include heightened neuroinflammation and oxidative stress, associated with progressive decline in mobility and cognitive functions. Natural compounds provide a valuable reservoir of novel bioactive substances with therapeutic potential, fewer side effects, and increased affordability.

Constitutional variants in the RB1 gene predispose individuals to the development of Retinoblastoma (RB) and the occurrence of second tumors in adulthood. Detection of causal RB1 gene variants is essential to establish the genetic diagnosis and to performing familial studies and counseling. In our cohort of 579 Spanish RB patients, 15% of cases suspected to have a genetic origin remained negative after traditional Sanger sequencing and Multiplex Ligation-dependent Probe Amplification (MLPA) of RB1 gene, likely due to the possibility of mosaicism or non-coding variants.

Tissue growth is controlled by various signaling pathways, such as the insulin/IGF-signaling (IIS) pathway. Although IIS activation is regulated by a complex regulatory network, the mechanism underlying miRNA-based regulation of the IIS pathway in wing development remains unclear. In this study, we found that the wing size of adult flies was negatively affected by miR-263b expression.

GV-58 is known to increase the opening time of the mammalian P-type calcium channel in presynaptic motor nerve terminals. GV-58 is suggested as a therapeutic agent for dampening the symptoms of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. To further understand the mechanisms of GV-58 actions, the and crayfish neuromuscular junctions were used as models.
