Purpose: Recently introduced hybrid and reinforced glass ceramic computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) materials have been used for full-coverage restorations. However; the effect of adjustment and type of materials on internal and marginal adaptation are unknown. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the marginal and internal adaptations of crowns made of three different CAD/CAM materials before and after adjustment.

Materials And Methods: One acrylic resin maxillary first molar was prepared and served as the master die. Thirty-six restorations were fabricated using CAD/CAM system (CEREC Omnicam, MCXL) with three materials including lithium disilicate (IPS e.max CAD), zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate (Suprinity), and hybrid ceramic (Enamic). Internal and marginal adaptations were evaluated with the reference point matching technique before and after adjustment. The data were analyzed using mixed ANOVA considering α=.05 as the significance level.

Results: The effect of adjustment and its interaction with the restoration material were significant for marginal, absolute marginal, and occlusal discrepancies (<.05). Before adjustment, Suprinity had lower marginal discrepancies than IPS e.max CAD (=.18) and Enamic (=.021); though no significant differences existed after adjustment.

Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, crowns fabricated from IPS e.max CAD and Suprinity resulted in slightly better adaptation compared with Enamic crowns before adjustment. However, marginal, axial, and occlusal discrepancies were similar among all materials after the adjustment.

Background/aims: Gastric neuroendocrine tumors (GNETs), once rare, have become more prevalent due to the increased use of endoscopy and increased physician awareness. The clinical characteristics and long-term outcomes of GNET management were explored in this study.

Methods: The clinical data of 69 patients who treated at Seoul National University Hospital between January 2013 and October 2023 were retrospectively studied.

Introduction And Importance: Orbital lymphomas, are extranodal lymphomas primarily involving the ocular adnexa, which includes conjunctiva, eyelids, eyelashes, eyebrows, lacrimal glands, retro-orbital soft tissues, and the extraocular muscles. Ocular adnexal lymphomas can be primary or secondary. This case is important because there are few case reports in the world, and it is among the first case to be reported from Ethiopia.

Purpose: Non-contact anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are influenced by the anatomic and biomechanical characteristics of the lower limb. The combination of knee valgus, hip internal rotation and tibial external rotation are important contributors to non-contact ACL injuries. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of femoral anteversion on the incidence of ACL injuries among athletes.

Frontiers Science Center for Deep Ocean Multispheres and Earth System (FDOMES) and Physical Oceanography Laboratory/Key Laboratory of Ocean Observation and Information of Hainan Province, Sanya Oceanographic Institution, Ocean University of China, Qingdao/Sanya 266000/572000, China; Sanya Oceanographic Laboratory, Sanya 572000, China; Laboratory for Ocean Dynamics and Climate, Qingdao Marine Science and Technology Center, Qingdao 266000, China. Electronic address:

The South China Sea (SCS) is abundant with complex multiscale dynamic processes but their spatiotemporal variations, generation and evolution mechanisms, and mutual interactions remain inadequately understood due to the lack of long-term in situ observations. To explore oceanic multiscale dynamics in the SCS, the SCS Mooring Array (SCSMA) was began to be constructed since 2009. The SCSMA consists of ∼40 moorings and is the largest in situ ocean observing system in marginal seas worldwide.

Associations between rural hospital closures and acute and post-acute care access and outcomes.

Health Serv Res

December 2024

Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York, USA.

Objective: To determine whether rural hospital closures affected hospital and post-acute care (PAC) use and outcomes.

Study Setting And Design: Using a staggered difference-in-differences design, we evaluated associations between 32 rural hospital closures and changes in county-level: (1) travel distances to and lengths of stay at hospitals; (2) functional limitations at and time from hospital discharge to start of PAC episode; (3) 30-day readmissions and mortality and hospitalizations for a fall-related injury; and (4) population-level hospitalization and death rates.

Data Sources And Analytic Sample: 100% Medicare claims and home health and skilled nursing facility clinical data to identify approximately 3 million discharges for older fee-for-service Medicare beneficiaries.
