Microstructural properties of wheat-based food materials change during baking. These alterations affect the final product's mechanical properties, physical attributes, and consumer satisfaction. Image processing and pore network modeling were used to analyze the variations in a cookie's microstructural properties during baking.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFried pork rind, a processed pork by-product, is popular as a snack globally, prized for its distinctive flavor and crisp texture achieved through frying. Although various studies have examined processing factors such as thickness, moisture content, and brine concentration, there is a scarcity of research addressing the effect of frying temperature on the quality of fried pork rinds. In the present study, the effects of varying hot air drying times (12, 18, and 24 h at 50°C), traditional deep-fat frying temperatures (180°C, 195°C, and 210°C), and frying durations (3, 4, and 5 min) on the oil content, moisture content, breaking force, color, puffing ratio, and microstructural appearance of pork rinds were evaluated.

Ceratapion basicorne (Illiger) (Coleoptera: Apionidae), a weevil native to Europe and western Asia, shows promise for enhancing the control of yellow starthistle (Centaurea solstitialis L.), an invasive annual forb in the western United States. However, a paucity of data on this biocontrol agent's environmental constraints has made it difficult to assess the suitability of potential release locations.

Fuelwood is the primary source of heat energy for tea processing, but its availability is declining due to population growth and logging restrictions. This study aimed to optimize the economics of biomass fuel mixtures for tea processing boilers by integrating macadamia nutshells as a supplementary fuelwood. The objective was to develop a cost-effective fuel mix strategy using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and MATLAB simulations.

The process of aging starts at birth and continues till death which affects human physiology and its appearance. According to Unani literature, the innate heat and innate moisture reduce gradually with increasing age.
